Checked underneath to make sure my catalytic converters weren't stolen. Will continue to do so every morning until my Talons Garage Cat protection plate comes in. So ridiculous it's come to this.:ak472:

Tried the cheap LED route a few years back and didn’t have much luck. This time decided to pony up for Arc Light Icarus eXtreme LEDs with white/red. Install was straight forward and a dremel made quick work of the holes for the button.

Finally found a parasitic battery drain

After almost 2 years of searching, today I finally found there’s a bad diode in one of my Baja S2 Pro’s causing up to a .25A drain through my SPod Bantam. Love that lifetime warranty! And if in the end this is fixed I’m one happy guy!!

the build continues

extra large AT tranny pan, and tranny cooler (not pictured)

it's debatable whether this works or not, but since I have to service my tranny soon, i figure why not.

Big ol tires, big ol bumpers, and big ol skidplates makes my transmission very unhappy when at high altitudes.

How are you liking your 285/75-17’s? Do they seem to be ok with the factory gearing?

I love them, but yeah I wouldn't run them without regearing.

Although i kinda tell a white lie to all my trail buddies that they run fine without re-gearing so they will upgrade to them...hahahaa..

yeah don't do it, especially with a true 34. here is why:
1. transmission temps will be high due to the constant gear searching or...
2. you drive in s4 all day long, but you will lose over drive and be slow as fck on any long freeway inclines..I MEAN SLOW as in big rigs passing you.
3. your 1st gear low range is more like 2nd gear low range.. way to fast.

However, if you end up with a 34 that runs small..you can probably get away with it.

As for them being yoko's? I love em. They do surprisingly well for a MT for daily driving. Other than a slight hum, very mild road manners. Offroading, they are a beast as expected when compared to AT tires... They are also light weight for a MT tire in its size, which is important if you want to retain some reliability in your suspension and steering components. Also,285/75/70s are so skinny (compared to 305/70/17), they were relatively easy to fit ( only thing i had to add was extended front bump stops in addition to the other mods to clear 33s).

Thanks for your response. That was very informative for myself as I am looking into new suspension for my Pro and was considering if it was worth going higher and doing a BMC, mud flap removal, etc. etc. I think I will just switch to a 285/70 MT down the road. I am satisfied with my Wildpeaks SL 285/70 AT3W. They have performed well in a variety of conditions.
Your Kings are great, but, I don’t want to spend that much money at this time. I need to raise my 4 runner back up about an inch after I added the the full C4 skids and diff skid. Have Shockwork sliders also and 4 LFD wide bars that I carry a couple of Gun cases with recovery equipment and miscellaneous stuff. Thinking about a medium load Dobinsons setup. I will eventually add a Lo Pro bumper. Have you had any experience with previous suspensions or one you might recommend in the mid range?
Your rig is awesome. TIA

Currently in the middle of a trial and error camping build for my 5th gen. Built a low profile platform to level the cargo area over the weekend, pulled the rear seat bottoms, played around with refletix for the sun shade/blackout mod, and picked up the gutter guards for window ventilation/bug proofing when camping. Has anyone added a second layer to their refletix and if so was it beneficial? Looking to add some rigidity to those pieces. Intend on carpeting the platform this week and maybe rigging up a ceiling net for storage.

Some quick lessons learned for anyone starting their car camp journey: Don’t allow yourself to get consumed by overthinking each little detail of your build. There is no perfect plan. Tradeoffs are abundant during the design phase. If you intend on keeping everything inside the 4R, it is not ideal moving around everything for setup/teardown. Airbeds are better than nothing and some companies offer custom sizes for the cargo area, but I’m going to say a foldable mattress or something like an exped megamat is value added especially if you’re on the taller side and want to maintain some headspace.

thanks.

I don't have alot of experience with different suspension setups. Everyone's needs are a bit different. Although, Robinson's do make good suspension products.
