What did you do with your 4runner today?

I got the B-Pillars painted and reinstalled today. Not too difficult to remove but the bottom trim needs to also be removed to access the bolts for the handle and upper trim.

Prepping some parts for my suspension lift I'm hoping to install next week. I have forged aluminum upper control arms I put some matte clear coat on to help protect the finish of. Should be a pretty big update once installed!

Are those factory seat covers?

No, they're Clazzio covers. Probably one of my favorite additions to the interior!

Did a flush style satoshi grille mod. The center trim bar that surrounds the Toyota emblem was breaking loose on one side.
I used some 1/8” mesh that my dad gave me. I think it’s the stuff used on security doors. I had to spend a bunch of time epoxying the tabs that the metal frame screw into. Almost everyone of them were broken. I used some of the trimmings from the mesh I used to try and reinforce them and used a 30 minute epoxy. It looks really good from a distance haha. Oh well. It was falling apart and I’d have to buy a new one at some point.

Sony XAV-AX4000 and Cupholders

Hi everyone, for me I've been looking into installing the Car Play Sony model above and Car Toys said the AX4000 will work w/ the 2005 4Runner even though Sony says only for 2010 up? Car Toys has modification kits so it will work but I was wondering if anyone else had installed this in their 4th Gen?

Also hoping someone has idea for a better cupholder -- the plastic adjustable arm doesn't work great for keeping the bottle and coffee that stable.

Rear air spring delete and I still can't get over how much nicer it drives, it always felt unsettled and twitchy before, now its stable / smooth like a Cadillac and actually enjoyable to drive. New (but stock) front and rear coil springs + Bilstein 5100's.

The surround was already Plasti-dipped which I plan on peeling off but I rattle canned over the whole thing with black satin finish instead of flat like the bumper is now. Once I get around to finishing the bumper with a center hoop I’ll paint the grille and bumper to have a similar finish which I really haven’t settled on.

If the repairs I made to the surround hold up I’ll most likely redo the whole thing with the CCG mesh and the deep satoshi look.

In Phoenix, probably something in the road, it was the HOV lane exit onto I10, nowhere to stop without getting killed for a quater mile. We have everything from couches and ladders to people laying on the road here.

I first removed the 5mm overflow plug and about 1.5 quarts came out. I expected none to come out since the engine was cold.

Then I removed the drain plug and another 1.8 quarts came out for a total of 3.3 quarts. This total sounds about right.

The 3.3 quarts total is a normal amount for a dump and fill so why did so much (1.5 quarts) come out when I first removed the overflow plug?

If it was overfilled, that would imply that, at correct level, only 1.8 quarts would have come out if I first removed the drain plug instead of the overflow plug.

Is 1.8 quarts the usual to come out for a drain and fill? Seems a bit low?

It must be running and at the correct temperature to check to fluid level, when not running a lot of the fluid is in the pan instead of circulating in the transmission.

About 3 1/2 quarts is about right when draining.

I made this same mistake - twice. As [MENTION=149207]AuSeeker[/MENTION] says, the transmission must be at operating temperature. The temp's not the only thing, having it warm also means the fluid is distributed through circulation throughout the transmission, not sitting in the pan. That's why that happened.
