what would you change

For the 2010 owners, the horn has been changed in the 2011. No longer sounds like the road runner...

Only change I'd really like is a better radio display. That will be addressed in the 2012, hopefully available by the end of the year.

The horn is gay, I hesitate to use it every time! Other than that I just wish it had intelligent cruise and lane departure. But I understand you need to get the GX for most of that. I am happy with the pricetag of my T4R...

I had HIDs in my past 2 vehicles and honestly, I saw no advantage with them (other than aesthetic reasons of course) so I don't really care if they add them or not.

Dump the Dunflops and install Duratracs as standard
Leather in the Trail Edition
Less Squishy suspension about 2.5 inches higher on the Trail
Cruise Control that doesn't downshift at every minor incline
WHAT THE H_ _ _ IS UP WITHT HE CRAPPY BLOWER FAN MOTOR?

Higher spring rate
Same ride height as Prado
More caster in the front end
Trunk hatch hits my garage door
SR5 radio display scratches too easily
OEM tires are sad
"Sport mode button" with better throttle response and higher RPMS before shifting and more aggressive downshifting
Factory antenna is cheap-o, should be in window
Second cupholder on 2WD models where the 4WD shifter goes
skid plates just stop?
4cyl model looked closer to the TE. Why can't we get that look in SR5's? Leave the body work and chrome to the limited models.
OEM wheels should be 8" wide with another 1/2" of offset.
Rear wiper should wipe larger area
B-pillar AC vents for rear passengers

Wow! Is there anything that you actually like about your truck?

-Higher windshield. That's the only thing I can't get used on my 5gen. I know some people like these narrow windshields but it make the 4R feel claustrophobic.

- Stiffer suspension from factory

- Full time 4wd as an option on all models.

OK, three days with the 2011 TE:
1. Move the USB & 12V outlets in the glove box to the storage bin between the seats (The glovebox? Really? With no way to run a cord out without pinching it?)
2. More storagecompartments! Took the stuff out of the Pilot and only had room for about 1/3 of it.
3. Lift the front at least an inch.
4. Radio antenna in the glass. It is 2011 after all.

1) Brakes more responsive/less squishy
2) Better rear wiper (couldn't it cover more than 1/3 of the rear window?)
3) stiffer stock suspension (ride is too boaty; can't wait to install Bilsteins)
4) better storage layout in the back. It would make sense to me to redesign the wheel well storage to be more of a single compartment with a hinge opening. I need space for just a few things, like jumper cables, tow hitch, tow strap, maybe a breakdown kit. No large areas back there to hide these things.

I LEFT OFF THE THE LAST QUESTION....Have any of you experienced how crappy the blower is for the HVAC?

Mine works great. Have you checked the duct work from the blower to make sure all the connections are on correctly? Or has the dealer checked it?

A functional roof rack to carry canoes (the stock one is way too short).
Brakes that don't make that funny squishy noise when I press the brake pedal.
A radio faceplate that doesn't scratch so easily.
A tonneau cover provided with the vehicle.
Headlight covers that don't cloud so fast on the top. I'm not sure what word to use but others might know what I mean.
An antenna in the windshield instead of that really cheapo one. Toyota should be ashamed of doing this. It's one of those things you don't really notice when buying a vehicle.
Firmer suspension for the SR5.
Metal instead of plastic around the wheel wells.

Not much else. I really like the vehicle. Miles ahead of my old Pathfinder. I also checked out the 2011 XTerra before buying the 4Runner and there was no comparison. They occupy different market segments in my opinion.

what would I change?

I'm in the market for a newer 4runner. I'm torn between a 08 Limited or going 5th Gen route. Here is what I didn't like while looking at the 5th Gens.

Rear seat head rests are larger because of safety standards. You have to keep them folded in order to appreciate the rear view window. At least they fold so half credit.

Like the appearance of the Trail but want the goodies in the Limited. Limited has too much chrome though.

_Hate_ the mast antenna.

Bring back LED's, projection headlights. I can see reflectors in the SR5, but Limited? When just 2 years ago it was standard on all 4runners?

Don't get me wrong, I love the 4runner. I think I just answered my own question and will be sticking with the 4th Gen. I didn't appreciate the location change of the rear view window button on the 2009s though. I'll be sticking with the 2008 and hold on to that until I can't drive anymore, hah. Credit to the Blizzard Pearl and Magnetic Gray colors. Mag Gray is perfect between Galactic Gray Mica and Shadow Mica. I used to hate all white paint jobs but the Pearl (sheen?) to it is beautiful. My 2 cents.

How about a cargo cover that actually covers the cargo? Just installed mine and there's a 6" gap between the seats and the cover (I know, lean the seats back farther, but then the seats aren't comfortable for the passengers), and a 6" gap between the cover and the rear hatch. Who thought that one up?
