There is a guy here in the Bellevue Washington area the modifies non slim frame flocks by filling the gap in the grip, behind the magazine, with epoxy. He then shaves it down to the same grip profile as a 1911, and puts a spray texture on it. The texture is the coolest part. It has micro pieces of stone in it so unlike a lot of grip tapes and such it doesn't ware out. I can't afford it but after handling his I want to try to afford it.

Or you could just stipple the grip yourself. Buy a cheapo airsoft from Walmart to practice on before doing your real one though...

That does look great and I have shot and handled some of my friends that have done that. I like the fact that he brings the old Glock grip down to a 1911 profile. If I was just doing it for the spray on texture. Then absolutely I would just stipple the grip myself with a small soldiering gun.

Just FYI. Larue has a heck of a good price on Stealth .556 barrels going on at the moment. I can tell you from experience that their barrels are second to none for accuracy.

Just switched over to a S&W M&P Shield 9mm. Loaded with 147gr +P HST.

Loving it so far, shoots very well for such a small pistol and is very concealable.

I rotate between a shield in 9mm and full size M&P in 9mm. Depending on weather, situation and clothing/attire.

Used to carry a G19 or G26, but ever since I got my M&P's I've leaned towards them for daily carry.

The shield is a great little pistol. Get the Apex DCAEK. It makes the trigger go from mushy to perfect. approx 3# pull. I install them in all my M&P's. If you want a custom fitted barrel that's way more accurate than factory barrel- Grant at G & R tactical is the go to guy for them.

What holster are you using?

I use a crossbreed super tuck IWB or a crossbreed freedom carry IWB most of the time and sometimes a raven phantom OWB. With a crossbreed double mag carrier and another mag or 2 in my pockets.

Curious as to what holsters others are using.

I like the federal HST, but prefer the Win Ranger SXT 127 +P+. Can't go wrong with either or Speer Bonded Gold dots.

I tired the alien gear it was comfortable don't get me wrong but just could not get use to it and made me sweat like crazy like take under shirt off and it was soaking wet right where holster rested. But I'm in a situation that a lot of times I have to tuck my shirt in so I bought a tuckable iwb years ago off amazon cheapie too and it has worked perfect great all this time and if I'm awake it's on me other words . Not one of those leave it at home kinda guys lol

Then if you need to go somewhere with shirt tucked church,business etc.... The pants/belt clip I keep behind my belt no one has ever noticed it in years.

Would think it wiggles or move around on you not at all stays put.

FWIW--

I run TT Gunleather exclusively these days (CCO in an XC Slim and a G26 in a Mike's Special). Have and like Sparks and old school Alessi. Too many great craftsman out there with tremendous options available as I'm sure you are aware. Kydex, getting ready to replace my beat-up Colorado Holster with a Raven Concealment OWB for training-use (G19 w/ XC1). If more discretion is necessary its a 442 in an Alessi APX or an off-the-rack Bianchi Pro 100.

I was previously carrying Sigs (usually my p228) but shot my brother's M&P 9 about a year ago and fell in love. I was never a Glock guy (never pointed right for me) but the ergonomics of the M&P pistols are fantastic for me.

I picked up a full size M&P 9 first and have been shooting it for a while now, but have never carried it. I probably will start though in the winter time. Everyone says the Apex upgrades are awesome. I will give them a shot, for sure!

I am using an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 for IWB, and a Desantis Nemesis for pocket carry.

I agree with you on ammo. I prefer the HST but I think you can't go wrong with any of the top-tier SD ammo. The differences between the ballistics are splitting hairs. As long as you can afford enough of it to practice with, and it's accurate and reliable in your pistol, you can't go wrong IMO.

What gun belts are you all using?

I typically go with a Volund Gearworks Atlas when casual, and a Magpul Tejas when formal.

I've got an Ares/Aegis Ranger belt also, but I like the atlas a bit better.

Here's something other than plastic for an EDC!

I prefer the combo of leather against the skin and kydex to hold/retain the firearm in IWB holster. And full Kydex for AIWB and OWB. Nothing wrong with leather, it's just bulkier for the most part.

I really like being able to adjust the retention with kydex.

I do have a few leather holsters I like, but I just never use them anymore.

I've had all flavors of holsters over the years and the leather/kydex combo just works best for me when carrying IWB, and full kydex when carrying AIWB or OWB.
