20 inch wheels on LIMITED

Got my Bridgestone Dueler Alenza Plus put on my 20's today (first day with the 20's back on post winter) and very happy so far. Had to spend a few minutes on the highway. Minimal wander, soft, good handling, and quiet. Was going to get Michelin Premier LTX's but the reviews online for the Alenza Pluses justified the lower price.

EDIT: I got OEM spec size (245/60/20). After a few more days I can say these tires are smooth. They really absorb harsh bumps/cracks in the road nicely, even on the highway.

I just got my first 4runner (I'm a car gal- love lifted trucks as much as a vintage muscle car) so I keep walking to the garage just to look at it :dancin:

When I first saw the later model LE 2014 on, immediately I thought it was odd the tires seemed so skinny. I just noticed after looking through many threads here that my 15 LE wheels look like the 2013s or before(?) but with more black-interesting. They look nice on my silver LE but damn, gotta get wider tires asap!

I know I know-- the stock wheels are narrow and not necessarily recommended for 275 55 20 tires, but I see a lot of folks have had no trouble; for now I won't be doing much offroading if at all so any issue with tires/OEM wheels should not affect me- i hope! Like the Terra Grapplers. Need to make a list of tires that work with OEM wheels! Although, I think black wheels on silver LE would look a-mazing. Wish i could transplant the XP wheels/tires off the trail I saw at the dealership and put em on mine.

Nitro makes the 265/60 r20 Terra Grappler G2. Anyone have any experience with those. I'm looking to pick up a set soon.

For those who have gone with the 275/55/20 tires on stock wheel/suspension, can you confirm there is no rub even if you have aggressive AT tires? I am considering putting either BFG K02 or Nitto Terra Grapplers G2. One local shop is ok fitting them on stock wheels. I won't be doing any significant offroading and not looking to changing any of the suspension at this time.

I am considering putting either BFG K02 or Nitto Terra Grapplers G2. One local shop is ok fitting them on stock wheels. I won't be doing any significant offroading and not looking to changing any of the suspension at this time.

That's good to know! Any chance you have additional pics? I have the same color Limited and would love to see how the tires look on the OEM rim !(hard to tell with the pic you posted since the tire is in shade)

I saw your other post - how did you decide on the aftermarket wheel? Seems a bit wide? It gets very confusing on aftermarkets since you have to look at the width, backspace, offset etc. My local shop directed me to wheelpros.com. Then I asked what if I got 17" wheels, and the shop recommended 18" since 17" might not clear brake calipers. Head spins trying to find a good combination!

I've always liked the volks
just found out this morning there's a 20x9.5 +0 offset availability
Price wasn't too far off, so they're in the considerations list
Just gotta' make sure they don't rub with bf goodrich at ko2 s : 275/55/20's

Heard the ko2's with stock 20x7 work fine, but don't know about the 9.5 +0 offset

The 18's also look tiny to me, but are probably the better choice to do Moab, Utah

Many pro's and cons
Would probably do the 20's if i can sell the OEM wheels

New Member Wheel Question

I have been reading your posts and I have new limited and have the same issue.
I would prefer to just replace tires and not wheels. Some of you have purchased the Generals or the Continental because it is allowable.
1. Did you notice a difference the ride??
2. Does the tire size do justice to the appearance. (i assume so but are you happy with the difference?)

I've had Duelers on a Land Cruiser and they worked out great. Not sure of the price difference with the General or Conti, though.

I know some go wider, but I am not taking any chances. I went with OEM specs on the 20's: 245/60/20. As I mentioned, the tires definitely look wider than the original Geolanders.... definitely a better look whether they are the same or not.

I didn't want to chance the extra width as I'm off-road somewhat frequently. I originally ordere 275 65 18 tires and level 8s from discount, but came across these takeoffs from a 2017 trail while getting an oil change. I paid 600 for wheels and tires at the dealer, the tires are serviceable for now. I think the wheels are more my style than the stock 20s...and it left nearly a grand in the bank to spend toward a proper lift.
