2011 4R vs. 2012 Sequoia or?

As someone who typically leases and trades every two years, I tried and tried to rationalize getting either a GX or an LC - I've test driven more LCs and GXs than I can count.

After every test drive, I get back in the 4Runner - and each time I'm reminded what a great vehicle it truly is. It also does exactly what I want it to do. I've done some crazy **** with my stock config'd Limited and its never failed me. Kinda strange (for me) to not want for more.

But if you have kids, plan to tow and will use the space, the Seq is probably a great fit. I agree with whoever said it was a tank. It is. Albeit a rather numbing drive like the Highlander.

I've driven the GX at length... Comes down to character, I guess, the 4R having much more of it.

What up w/ Lexus not doing a power liftgate on the GX. That barn door blows.

... and the 4Runner also doesn't have that stupid barn door.

dont fool yourselves thinking a 2008- sequoia is fuel efficient. I owned one for 3 years. I have a 08 tundra crewmax as well.

neither gets anything decent in the gas mileage department. they are both wonderful road warriors with very comfortable long hauling capabilities.

but for gas...think 14mpg in town and maybe 18 on fwy. yeah, ive seen the indicator say more from time to time but overall its 17-18.

Both of mine are 4x2.

both are unduly made with overly cheap plastic everywhere. I had an x5. that was nice everywhere. Tundra/sequoia even the leather feels cheap.

for a 60k vehicle they need to do better.

I do feel my t4r limited in nicer in every way. maybe they learned something.

GO DRIVE A LOADED PLATINUM. It is a Plush Ride with Air Ride suspension and AC Hi end Leather Seats, it is perfect for the family for trips. I am glad I am able to have a Cummins to tow, a Camry to commute, a Trail to Hunt and off road and the Sequoia for the Family. After getting Nickle and Dimed and Bejamined for years with Dodges and Chevys as the Miles Climb. Fuel Pumps, window motors, electric and heated seat switches and dash lighting going out consistantly, other than the Truck to tow I am glad to be rid of that $**t! Toyota's are By Far the Best!!! Just like Yamahas, Bullet Proof... Jap,Jap,Jap, Brrraaaaap!!! :fro: :naughty::guitar3::surfer:imp::infidel:

Why to get so emotional…? Why try to put expressive spin on someone else comments..? I like 5th generation (although in Trail package only) and obviously I like 4Runners in general (had 2nd , 3rd and now 4th generation), but when you change the engine from V6 to V8, change trany from 5 to 6 speed, change every single body panels of the vehicles then I would call it a different truck…
I was just replying to OP with my recommendation, which is obviously based on my knowledge and my experience without injecting “personal” feelings as you took it..

Granted, a loaded platinum is VERY nice but its also major CHA-CHING

Had a 2004 Sequioa. To this day, I regret getting rid of that vehicle. To me, it was the perfect size. The new Sequoias are too big imo.

This is one of the things my wife loves about our 13' SR5. We both feel its more in line with the last bodystyle Seqouia. The 4th gen 4runner seems small in comparison to the 5th.
