Are you rolling or spraying?
I didn't need to primer it. The directions just said to scuff up the surface.

Thanks for the air chisel tip on the factory sound deadener. I've been daunted by the idea of scraping that stuff out by hand. Air tools do rock!
I bought a gallon of black Herculiner a while back that I planned to use on the inside of my '88. However, I wasn't happy with the lasting toxic odor, inconsistent rubber chunks that peeled off and the way dirt stuck to it on my CJ7. Once you put it on there's no going back. Now that I see your rig with the grey Monstaliner, I think I'll go the same route.

I'm liking this idea of bedliner on the lower body more every time I see it. Looks great on your truck, SV! While I like the color-matching you did, I'll probably go basic black--should go well with the light gold body and eventual black bumpers/sliders.

I've wanted to do the same thing for a while now, take out all the carpet and foam and bedline it all. The only reason I haven't is because I worry about how much louder it is inside the cab and how it holds heat. What are your thoughts about the whole thing? Any differences than before? I just hate having to clean my carpet so much!!

Ditto. Let us know how it sounds so we can start being copy cats. With kids and dogs, the carpet holds in smells and moisture. I'd love an excuse to get rid of it.
It's hard for me to give you a good answer on the noise. I never had a rear carpet kit, I have a soft top which doesn't help the noise, I have headers and a full exhaust which doesn't help, and my tires are noisy as heck. In my case I don't think the liner helps reduce the noise but I have too many other factors that make my runner noisy. I still plan on using a carpet kit with a sound deadening material under the carpet. I have some sound deadening (like dynamat) that I will put on the doors and fender areas of the runner. I do want to try and cut some of the noise. The noise was not a factor in my decision to do any of this though. I wanted functionality first.

So I got the rear 4.88 diff in, nothing special so I don't have any pics of it. The only visual difference is there are 4 fin thingies on the outside of the diff as opposed to 3. I went to do the front and noticed that my front brakes were shot! I didn't have any weird braking issues, no noises, no pulling, and braking power felt fine. But... my driver side outer brake pad was gone! The metal back side was riding on the rotor, same thing on the passenger outer pad. So, I replaced the rotors (f*ing 54mm socket!!!), pads and calipers. All I can say after the diff and front brakes is wow! I'm assuming that the front brakes were dragging a bit because the front wheels spin very free when off the ground as opposed to before they would only turn about 1/3 turn with momentum when rolled by hand. I can actually roast my 35" tires on the 4.88 gears.

Another reason to love a soft top!
We're supposed to get some nasty weather so I wanted to get the runner in the garage to keep the soft top from getting destroyed. The runner is too tall to fit in the garage. With about 30 seconds of work the 4runner fits
Poor guy, mine fits with a little less than a foot to spare.
Nice Army standard fire cabinet... dont worry your secret is safe with me and anyone else who reads this.
