Another Bilstein 5100 question

As previously noted earlier in this thread, the consensus seems to be:

for Bilstein 5100's all around:
.85 front, no lift rear
1.75 front, 1" spacer in rear
2.5 front, 1.5" spacer in rear

still haven't done mine yet, but I'm going to do the 1.75 front, 1" spacer in rear

Now i got the 1" cornfeds and 1.5 daystar rears for sale. Lol....let me know ...Daystars still brand new in the box.

Yesterday I had my Bilstein 5100's installed. I went with the 2.5" setting up front and added a Daystar 1.5" spacer in the rear. Ditched the stock Dunflop tires for 275/70R17 KO2's.

MAJOR improvement in looks and ride quality!! No more major nose dive during breaking and it soaks up bumps better. Absolutely zero rub and I get to leave the mud flaps on!

I was worried about it looking "goofy" with that amount of lift on 275's, but I actually love the look!!

This lift and tire combo looks perfect! I have 15" TEP and looking to do same combo as you have. Just a few questions, did you notice any power loss with the weight of bigger size tire and i know the mpg will go down just wondering how much? Thanks!

1.75" & 1" & 275/70/17

I notice a very slight power loss due to heavier tire, and have a very minor rub driver side only in full reverse lock, but only in one direction. Everything else is prefect. Happy as a lark!

Something I learned lifting my 4th Gen is that changing the vehicle roll axis can also drastically change handling characteristics (Google it if you don't know what that is). If you lift the front too much without compensating with a rear lift, the roll axis is changed and it will affect your on-road manners. When I do Bilsteins, I'll either do 0.85 front and no lift in back, or 1.75 front and 1" spacer in back.
Im sorry but i have to ask this. Will it hurt the rear suspension (stock) if i put 1" cornfed with bilstein in the front? I dont do off road, just once a month gravel road (10 miles). I should say 98% pave and 2% gravel road. Thanks.

It won't hurt anything at all. I'd consider spending another $100 and adding the Bilstein shocks to the rear also with the cornfed spacer. That way you'll have the same damping rate on both axles and a little bit of extra room for extended downward travel on the rear axle.

My plan was to just do a spacer in the rear with stock suspension. This makes me feel more feel better. Appreciate the input and i definitely consider rear bilstein too. Thank you.

Does anyone here did 1.75 front & stock or no lift in the rear?

Do you still have them for sale?

Yea, i still got them, i think the 1"cornfeds might be sold but the daystar 1.5s are for sale brand new in the box, im upgrading my lift to coils instead of spacers, thats why im selling them.

I previously had a 2014 TEP without KDSS. I installed Bilstein 5100s all around and put the front adjustables on the 1.75" setting. No modification to the rear height at first---just installed the rear 5100s by themselves.

The body and fender angles/heights absolutely appeared dead level, and I ran that setup for a few weeks. But something just didn't quite feel right to me. When I really started crawling around and more closely scrutinizing my vehicle, I confirmed that the frame actually did have a slight "negative rake" with that setup. I really don't think that it would've caused any problems, but it just made my OCD hurt to think about leaving it that way. :twitch:

So I installed a 20mm OME trim spacer on each rear coil, and (for me) that totally solved the problem. The result was a truly leveled T4R---even when hauling a full load or towing a small trailer.

Hope that helps.

Finally someone with experienced chimed. You have no idea how much this will save me. I am scheduled to put the bilstein this coming monday and i am set to put it at 1.75. Coz yes, it will perfectly level the vehicle. Glad i asked.

Thank you!

I just had 5100s installed at 1.75. Stock rear coils with 5100s in the back as well. I still have about 1/2" of rake. Measuring from the wheel centers to the fender is 21.5" front, 22" rear. I'm going to measure the frame one of these days, but she rides like a dream now! There's a pic in the "What'd ya do" thread from today if you want to see it. (I don't have the pic here at work to repost)

I saw it. Looking good, though it was a bit dark but i can totally see the difference. Mine is SR5 like yours. Im now have second thoughts regarding 1.75 front and stock rear. Does Trail w/o KDSS has a different suspension setup than sr5?

Have you experienced any any rear rake?
