Another snorkel thread

Hey all!

i'm Looking in to getting a snorkel for my truck soon and so far I have seen threads about LC80 and LC 100 snorkels. I like installation of LC100 version. Also I have found a snorkel that was made for LC 120 Prado which is using 1GR-FE so, proper air flow velocity, consumption etc. Not too sure how different are the front fenders on 4runner and Prado. Maybe it would be another great option for us ?

Here is a link just in case someone will notice something interesting out of those pictures.

Oh, I wrote to seller asking if it will fit.

Well seller is ignoring my questions, too bad, there are other sellers on ebay or amazon.

Anyway, did anyone try to install a prado 120 snorkel at all ?

The only thing i am concerned about is an angle between hood line and a-pillar. Prado windshield looks more aero dynamic in comparison to our trucks.

I think I will give a shot with this one.
I know that its just a picture but at least it was designed for 1gr-fe.

When I tried to order that last one from eBay/au it doesn’t give you an option to select diesel or V6..
The air intake location through the inner fender is the same for petrol and diesel vehicles, so this snorkel will fit both.

The first link though says choose a or b for petrol vs diesel so I wasn’t sure if the flows are different...size of the tube/whatever etc

I ended up getting this one.

I decided to get shipping from Australia because it would take less time to be delivered. So I didn't have to choose A or B version. The one I got states that one fits both diesel and petrol.
Please post pics! I'm in the process of collecting parts for my 03 to do a full Overlander build and I haven't been able to find a snorkel yet! Have seen some good mods from other gens of 4runner but nothing that really fit right. I don't really want to take a heat gun to a brand new part and risk messing it up after I've cut a huge hole in my fender! And WOW just saw the shipping from Australia! Holy crap! It's as much as the part! But hey if it works! Good luck!

That's how fender looks like after cutting a rust proofing. Afterwards I will spray lots of anti rust oil also just to be safe.

This is custom 3.5 inch pipe and 2 90" elbow flex hoses instead of squeeshed original pipe that comes with a kit. Should breath better i think.

I had to grind off some plastic at the upper section that leans on a-pillar, otherwise the bottom wont sit flush on a fender even with rubber seal. Pipe is very thick so its not a big deal to grind it.

Any pictures of the finished exterior?

Looks pretty good, might be worth the time and effort if safari snorkel takes any longer to deliver their version.
