COB's 4Runner Timeline (Pic Heavy)

Has anyone here ever had a childhood pet that they grew up with? I had a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix named Sage from 1999-2018. Her heaviest was 7lbs. Her departure in my 27th year of life left a void.

December 2018, I found two chihuahuas on craigslist that were born in early October, a boy and a girl, litter mates. I named them Jesse and Lily. Each weighed a single pound.

I started them off young and took them on their first trip in February to KOH.

We arrived and set up at night. It was a cold one, but we came prepared. Kyle @theking1163 came by too.

I got paid to attend KOH this year, and the 4Runner spent a day in Hammertown perched on a cute little fake rock.

We stayed a couple more days, checked out all of the sights. Our 4th day was our last and we packed up to head home.

Doing a manual and 4WD swap on my 02 V6 SR5 soon, this was a big help and I'm sure I'll be back to read more. Scared of the wiring, not gonna lie. Thanks!

This rig still exists!! Thread updates, though, lol…

3 years of updates here we come :D

But for a good long while, the more accurate reality is sitting in the driveway until the battery dies.

A used Jardine muffler came into my hands and sat in the garage for a few years. Jardine is known as a motorcycle exhaust manufacturer, but many years ago, they used to make automotive mufflers. This truck had a Jardine 14” muffler on it for a long time, which sounded excellent, but it really didn’t do much in the way of muffling. I ended up putting that Jardine on my red turbo 4Runner and it is much better suited on that truck. This was a lengthier unit that would probably bring down the decibels a bit.

52338485270_2ce95e74db_b.jpg

The 3rd gen already had a TRD muffler, but it lost a battle versus a rock and started to crack. The ensuing rattles/exhaust leak were less than desirable. Here it is after a few thousand miles post crack.

So like the soup nazi, my 4Runner yelled NEXT! Mufflerwise, aside from the original OEM, it has had 3 Magnafails, 2 cherry bombs, a TRD, and 2 Jardines.

Gone are the days of Whitson Metalworks, taken down by those ****ing loser *******s at Gobi. I wish I could have gotten one of Whitson’s racks before Gobi sued them the way they sue every up and coming roof rack manufacturer. **** your prices, **** your rack. I found a local to make me one. No way I’d put a Gobi on my truck, not even for free.

A simple design with tube frame and mesh center.

The alternator gave up and it was time for an upgrade. LCE alternator, new battery terminals.

I learned soon after that those battery terminals suck. Changed the ground to another style.

The battery later slid out of the mount and rubbed against the supercharger pulley. It wore through the side of the battery and spread acid all over and peeled some paint. Bummer.

Years ago, I had purchased a crashed 2000 4Runner SR5 for parts. It was white, 5spd manual, locked rear. Clean oak interior.

I’ve been hanging onto the interior door panels for a few years and its come time to upgrade. The seats in my truck came from this parts truck. The door panels have the same cloth pattern as the seats.

This time, I’m not ****ing around. THIS is a Spintech RV Truck muffler. It weighs as much as all of my previous mufflers combined. It has full actual welds instead of spot welds. 24” overall length. 2.5” diameter piping. Center inlet, offset outlet. Sounds great, sorry no video. I can get one if anyone cares to hear it (lmao are you even reading this? Comment if you are)

Off to save the same blue 5th gen buddy, whose fuel pump failed in his daily 94 civic. I lost a center cap for my front left wheel on a canyon run not long before this. Found it, but the ring was missing, so it doesn’t stay on. Making me want to find new tires and swap wheels. Took the roof rack off also to repaint it.

Time to tend to some other miscellaneous issues. A friend of mine works at a shop and had a customer with a broken radiator come in. I sold him the Koyorad from my truck and got to upgrading to a full aluminum Koyorad.
