Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

You netted about 3”. Do you need aftermarket UCAs when setting at 1.75 with 4x4 FJ coils?
I thought I settled at .85 but the 1.75 setting looks so good.

Just picked up a 2005 sport v8 4x4 with stock Xreas.
Looking to swap out for some 5100's.
Just found a guy local on cl with some FJ coils.
He said they got about 110k on them, would this mileage normally be ok? My buddy who is a mechanic said to measure them and compare that to stock measurements to check wear.
Is this something worth caring about? I'm probably just gonna go for it for 50 bucks why not.
They are off of an 07 btw I saw that these are a direct swap.

110K is too many miles imo, especially since springs are relatively cheap. I picked up a set of 2007 FJ springs with 10K miles a couple of years ago for $70 shipped.
Ah wow I will prob keep looking for some with lower mileage then. Definitely wanna get something I can run for 50k+ and not have to change them out. Thx

if anyone is looking for a set, I just took off a set of base-model struts and shocks. I have them in the For Sale thread, but I thought I'd mention it here. I have 2.5/1.5 spacers as well for someone interested. 60k on the shocks, nothing wrong with them. located in the Denver area.

Posted this in the Lift Pics thread as well, but since this thread was probably the most helpful, I wanted to post here too. After reading for hours on this site, my dad, son, and I spent a long Saturday putting 5100's, FJ Springs, a Daystar rear lift, new UCAs, 1.25 in wheel spacers, and 285's on the 2004 Sr5 I bought last year. I'm loving it!! Thanks so much to everyone who posted their stuff on here. Couldn't possibly have done it without this forum.

OEM Jack and ride height questions
Hello all, my first post here. Been getting lots of great info from your forum. Thank you. I have a 2003 limited V6. I acquired 5100s all around as well as 2007 FJ coils all around. After installed will I still be able to use my jack that came with the vehicle? From what I gather the FJ coils should raise the rear about .5". With the 5100s at the .85" setting will the jack still work?
I've also seen a few, but not many say they prefer the ride with the 5100s at the lowest setting. I was initially thinking the .85 lift so I could use 265/70r17s later but would like to keep a bit of rake and don't want to give up too much on the hwy. Thanks in advance for any advice. Best- E

I have 5100s set at the bottom setting with FJ springs, rear springs are stock. I wanted to level the stance a bit.
The higher up you go on the 5100s the more the ride will suffer. The FJ springs are already stiffer and with a v6, like mine, you should get closer to a full inch of lift with just the springs alone. Now, I know the second setting says '.85"'but it's actually closer to 1.5" from what I've read so combined with the FJ springs you're probably looking at 2" or maybe slightly more. You'll probably end up with some slight reversed rake as the rear FJ springs is usually only good for around .5"-.75" of lift over stock.
On a v6, a popular combo is the FJ springs with a 1/4" spacers in the front, it should net you right around 1.5" of lift. Keeping some rake in the stance. I actually bought a pair of 1/4" but ended up not installing them, in hindsight I think I should have. Oh well.

Seriously considering this setup with 5100s set to 0. Looking for a smoother ride on my V8 4x4 with original non-XREAS suspension. A mild 1-2” lift would be fine. If I’m putting new shocks in I may as well replace the old saggy springs while I’m at it. Having some trouble finding FJ springs though.
Where’s everyone finding FJ springs? Facebook marketplace and OfferUp don’t seem to have anything in my area. I also don’t think it makes sense to put ones with high mileage on my truck. Are there still fitment issues with Moog springs? Were the issues just for the rear or for the front as well?
Is there a reason I would buy a Moog FJ spring over an Eibach Pro or OME spring for a 4Runner?

What type lift would I expect for my V8 if I were to go with this?

Just swapped in the Bilstein 4600s and front springs from a 2015 Tacoma TRD Offroad ($130 locally off Craigslist) and 2007 OEM FJ rear springs ($70 shipped from an FJ Cruiser forum member).
My 'before' measurements showed the passenger side rear was 3/4" lower than the driver's side. The FJ springs evened that up and now both sides measure out at 35 3/4" from floor to the fender. (I used a Bosch laser device like this so I'm confident in the numbers.)
I got 1.5" up front from the new setup so it's nicely leveled all around, and that was the goal. Rides and handles much better than my worn out X-REAS with 149K on the clock.
Hey looking at something similar myself. Though I’m looking for 2016+ 3rd gen Taco takeoffs. Did you replace the rear shocks with the Taco shocks too? How’s it ride? Heard the rear may feel a little light but helpfully the FJ springs helped.

Looks great! What year was the FJ? The off-road package shocks are Bilstens and look like 5100s (maybe there are) right? Was this a direct bolt on or did you need to modify anything? Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure about the amount of lift you'll get with the V8, I'd imagine about .5"~ less then a V6. If you find out, and are looking for a little more, I have a pair of .5" front spacers I'm selling that will help make up the difference, if you're interested.

My rear coils were from a 2007 FJ & were a perfect fit on my ‘07 SE. Can’t speak to other model years but I don’t think FJs changed much over time. Mine is a V6 so not sure on the other part.

after so many months of lurking on this thread, i finally removed my shot xreas system and replaced it with Bilstein 5100 all corners with a 2007 FJ springs. More than the looks, I really like how it handles the bumps now than my old set up. My '05 Sports Edition used to have a 2" leveling kit, but with an almost 195k mileage, the call to replace it has been buzzing my ears for quite some time. Glad i made the decision and looking forward to hit the fishing trails.
Bilstein 5100 set up @ 1.75 front and 1.25" spacers on the rears got these measurements; front driver 36.3"/ front passenger 36.4" & both side rears 37.95"
