About the message Gobi claims to have received, that is horrible if it is true.

They really hurt their believability though with the shenanigans that occurred in that thread, making it pretty hard to believe some of these harassment claims.

I hope that message didn't come from a member here and frankly I hope it was made up because T4R is better than that.

I have been following public document releases and fully plan on starting one when something new develops. Court date isn't until end of September so I imagine it won't be until around then. and when There is a new thread it will be specifically be for facts and questions Zero tolerance for name calling.
 
There is zero tolerance for name calling in here as well. If not i would have already released a couple that would be spot on

I know some folks here think I am with GOBI, but I'm not and explained that on the other thread.

That message was was shared with me a few days ago together with the IP address it originated from. Whoever sent used a TOR exit server in Amsterdam to mask their IP which is not hard and smart when saying you hope they get shot etc..

Ironically, it was sent on the day Homes (Aurora shooter) was formally sentenced in Colorado.

It worked, as someone else just said, employees there are genuinely scared for their well being. I think it's probably just someone in their mom's basement but still...

I don't care much whose side people are on here, but people's emotions took precedence over facts and encouraged keyboard warriors to write stuff like this. If everyone were interested purely in the facts and didn't immediately reach for the pitchforks, I think it could have gone a lot better. I think it's a learning lesson for everyone involved, but I expected better out of the community. Hopefully we have a better tone moving forward that's more conducive to information and logical discussion.

Very counterproductive post here. Im interested in facts too and there has been nothing supporting the fact this is a real message sent to GOBI.

And like [MENTION=65101]BrianSD_42[/MENTION] pointed out their reputation for being an innocent bystander was lost very early on in this. (and on a side not the contrast of Josh's response is an easy 180*).

There are many of us following the facts and it truly is a shame if this message is real, but doesn't help the ability to move forward as observers of the events (with hearty discussion of course) with un-vetted, volatile info posted.
 
[MENTION=58830]JWaldz[/MENTION] had said that Gobi had contacted the BI about this email. If that is the case why would you guys be speaking about it in a public forum during an active investigation? Why not release allthese other emails too?

Right, we don't need any more input into the matter that's why the thread was getting closed due to hostility. As for your comment of not wanting to appease people you sure are pushing the Gobi ideology pretty hard, and insinuating the victim card.
A. Did a few members degrade the thread and personally attack and name call Gobi, yes. If thats the first time a business owner has ever been namecalled by the general population I am amazed then!(don't read that as justifying the actions)
B. Was that thread taken down, that taken care of and cleaned, yes.
For you then to further instigate this company you are affiliated with again doesn't help the entire matter at hand. The situation on this forum was handled, and now you ARE trying to start stuff again. Whether or not a ploy between you and Gobi to bring unwanted negative attention to AGAIN delete the thread as they did try previously I don't know. But again if you do have a claim and am nervous and fearing for Gobi lives, why not personally message admin or why wouldn't Gobi representative show this to their legal team and t4r admins as well.

edit: I do not condone threatening emails/phone calls/mail of any kind to any company no matter the case(just to be clear). I feel like that must be stated now in todays world.. . sadly.

I've known about this email all along.. It's also not the only one. But all that information is withheld by GOBI and should probably stay off the forum.

Now you guys understand why I was so upset and why I pushed to remove the main thread to begin with...

Anyways, can we please put the topic to bed. We should be focusing on how to help the situation, not the opposite. Enough bickering between members and mods, too cus that really doesn't help either.

To those questioning the validity of the email. First, it actually wasn't an email as such, it was a message left on GOBI's contact us page that is auto emailed to GOBI.

Mods, no clue if just posting a screen shot of the email with the cuss words is ok here. Apologies if it is and please delete the image if that's the case.

Image deleted but at least someone saw that it wasn't fake.

This email is undoubtedly f*ckin moronic, but I still don't think it justifies the removal of that thread in any way. That guy needs a lesson on what going too far on the internet is.

You can delete it. It's clear that it's not wanted on the forum.

Just because some moron wrote that, it doesn't represent those of us that still think GOBi is acting out of line with the law suit, nor should it have any bearing on the closed thread...it was probably written by somebody that wasn't apart of the discussion anyways.

I told you guys back in the other thread to leave well enough alone and all the public posting was just going to hurt both companies in the long run. Look guys, I have been on both sides in patent infringement cases and it's not pretty. It's also much different than civil or criminal law. No matter whose side you are on I suggest for the last time you leave it to the principal parties involved and their attorneys. This is a whole different world and everything said here is counterproductive to borh sides. That's all I am saying except everything is not always as it seems when it comes to patents.

Agreed. I believed the dust settled and the post by Miller was not in the best interest of cooling off the thread as it did appear people were going to wait and see the legal course of action before responding with anything else.

That other thread was very one sided though.

Two of the mods on this forum own WMW racks and were active in the thread and very critical of GOBI.
One of those mods, ironically, created a thread on another 4Runner forum with the title "GOBI Style Rack for a Fraction of the cost" as a matter of fact.
Threads on this forum re WMW racks created in 2012 have been edited in July of this year.
Posts here recommending blowing up GOBI's facebook and google ratings, which actually happened.
The list goes on.

I am sure talks of the case in Gobi's offices are very one sided. What do you expect.

Straight out of the lawyer playbook to try and make the company that filed the suit look like the victim.

This is a direct repeat of the last thread. No onesidedness. The information that was presented with legal details and how GOBI acted I don't belive to be one sided. They shot themselves in the foot, and have tried everything from getting the thread deleted by threatening the forum, to creating fake accounts to pedal the conversation to again get the thread flagged, to asking consumers to stick up for their actions and to try and justify them.
