I have a few extra Neo-5 hp bulbs here I think, I'm not using em so I'll see if I can get them apart. Do you know which resistor you would put in to make it work?

Basically 50-180ohm depending on the colour and brightness you want.
Hey Alex, I'm assuming you are painting the back of those needles white after you remove the orange paint. What are you using? I ended up using nail polish (not mine I swear) which seemed to do the trick, but curious to know what you did.

As for the needles? Tis a trade secret my friend.
But if you MUST know, here's a hint, LESS is more... As in, I didn't paint them, just used fine sandpaper to make them opaque.

I guess just figure out which is the resistor and which is the diode and swap the resistor only. How it's put back in the bulb holder doesn't matter because the holders screw in both directions

How about NAV units?
Alex, have you swapped out the LEDs on a factory NAV unit? Mine light up green, I would like them to light up factory orange. Just wondering........

As much as I think that would be a really cool swap, I also have tremors and think that swapping those TINYYYY LEDs is too much of a risk for me. I'd feel horrible if I damaged your nav unit :/

Hey man, did you use a 5mm for the lcd screen? Trying to figure out why yours is way brighter than mine.. Cause I'm an amateur I assume but thought I'd ask.

The neo-4 is a drop in replacement. Darkie made his own bulbs by reusing the OEM bulb holder and soldering a 1.2 ohm resistor onto a 3mm flat-top LED. Though the neo bulbs are good for quick swapping, and I prefer them because of my shaky hands and short attention span, they sometimes cause hot and cold spots, especially with the white bulbs.

So what exactly did you solder in - 5mm LED's or 3mm ? What is the wattage output?

I figured out the equation with darkie's help! Yay teamwork!
So you're good to go for soldering the 3 - 3mm leds for the big HVAC buttons that normally take the drop-in Neo3's that cause hotspots?
What about the 2H-4H-4L button? I think that one also causes a hotspot when you swap in a Neo3 LED.
What about the DAC and Differential buttons and any others that need soldering because the Neo3 cause hotspots - can't remember which other ones do that now as I have not swapped any others out other than the HVAC buttons.
The Reset/Mode buttons don't have any hot spots with the swapped in Neo3.
What about the AirBag on/off buttons - those need to be soldered in right?

Yea, I'll give it a shot!
I can solder the 3 hvac knob LEDs, the DAC, diff locker, and rear window switch.
Even with a darkie-made LED for my H2/H4/L4 switch, I still have major cold-spots. Maybe if I feel up to taking out my radio trim, I'll see if I could modify the light distribution inside the 4WD switch. I'll save that for a rainy day
The airbag on/off, seatbelt warning light, and vehicle security light require being soldered in (quite a pain and I just figured out how to make that swap work
