DIY: Interior LED swap (cluster, HVAC, switches, window, *steering wheel)

Basically a troubleshoot type question. Today I did the HVAC LED swap and when I finished swapping in the new bulbs, only one of the knobs lit up. I moved the bulbs around and made sure they were all the way in. Any ideas why they aren't working? I just got them today from SuperBrightLED so I doubt they are broken.
Edit: I didn't do the indicator lights just the regular NEO3 for the knobs themselves. Not really sure what the issue is because the screen and one knob all work.

They are polarized. Take the bulbs out and turn them 180 degrees. Should work!

One part I can't get past is why are resistors needed??? Im an electrical noob but I might attempt this mod at some point.

Buy premade ones from superbrightleds.com. Neo-3 and Neo-4

To answer your question - the voltage is too much for the LEDs to handle on their own. If you don't use the resistor the LEDs will burn out prematurely.

That looks more familiar and easier! I'm sure all the answers I seek are in this thread but that's a lot of pages to comb through. Been trying to figure this out for weeks. I will take apart my cluster and HVAC tomorrow to see how many of each I will need. Thanks!

Yeah... Don't ask me how but I just now noticed his write up continued on page 4.... Ahhhh!! Now it actually makes more sense. Haha. Those LED's (PLCC-2) are super cheap from tho looks of it though. Thanks again for the help.

Yes and VERY small!
Also with the resistor thing, I used all regular LEDs with resistors for the bulbs - i poked the LED through the bulb holder (often had to sand down one of them) and then soldered a resistor on back, bent it up to the contact point.

I tried the neo-3 from superbrightleds.com and they leave nasty hotspots on the hvac controls. Any suggestions?

You mean putting a 2012 taco cluster in our trucks? Can't say I've heard of that. Good luck figuring all the wiring out...

I offer a led PCB board retrofit to give illumination to both the lettering and the selector arrow in the switch. I have blue lettering and a white arrow
