Hey guys, I just recently swapped out my hvac controls to white. I had them working and had some hot spots and was playing with ways to fix that. Anyways, I went to put the controls back in and now they wont light up at all. The cup holders don't light up the dash doesn't dim, the glove box light doesn't turn on. Its as if its not sensing that the headlights are on. What might cause this any suggestions?

This times 10,000. That is why you don't leave the power turned on when plugging stuff in

10,000 percent correct. Felt stupid not finding that one. I just about pulled out every fuse. I used little pieces of paper to help diffuse the light. Helped a little bit with the hot spots, but the hp neo wedges seemed to work better. Just ordered my plcc-2's from oznium. I am getting excited for this project. here's hoping I don't bone anything on that one. For now I ll have to wait for them. Next on the to do list adding factory bluetooth controls . Thanks for the help!

Oh and fyi, the 2012 taco cluster swap....seemed more of a headache than it was worth dealing with.

Hey guys, once you've replaced all of the LED's on the gauges, is there any way to test that they all work before putting it all back together? I really am hoping that I don't have to put it all together to find out I have one bad LED.

This worked perfectly. My dumbass didn't replace the gear selector back lights so I had to take it out just to change those two LED's out. Other than that it came out great. Here's a few pics for ya. This came out great and wasn't too hard. Definitely time consuming. I love it though. Everyone should do this. Now I am up for new projects to consider. Thanks for the help. Oh and I managed to loose the gromet for the trip meter button anyone know how to get a new one?

Hey guys, first post on the forum. I found this thread while searching for some replacement lamps for my HVAC controls. This is a great mod. I love everything about my 4Runner except the orange lights. I went to the superbright led website to order some leds to play around with, but, I am having some trouble. I can't find any way to select the options. The "add to cart" button is there but when you hover over it, it says I need to choose the options first (duh). There is nowhere on the page to do so. I am looking at the standard Neo leds however, there is nowhere to choose options for the HP bulbs either. Has anyone ordered from them lately? Maybe they are out of stock on all the bulbs. Maybe this is a question for the folks at the website. Thanks for any help.

you also want the standard ones not the high power. The lights you are talking about changing are run on 4v I believe, the HP ones are if you had 12v going to them.

Today the website was working fine, all the options popped up so I got everything (and then some) ordered. Thanks for the help.
I ordered enough standard ones to do everything and then some HP ones to play with if I want something brighter. I guess you have to tap into a 12v source somewhere if you use the HP ones or change the internal resistor. I am hoping the standard ones will suffice, they seem to look fine in all the pictures I have seen in this thread. I measured the voltage on the HVAC knob backlighting and it measured 12v. I didn't measure the display lights, but, I think someone said it was around 6v. The voltage may drop when loaded. I don't know what was up with the Superbright website this weekend, it worked perfect this morning. Thanks for the help for you and all that have contributed to this thread. I feel a little guilty coming in this late after all the hard work has been done!!

I'm in the process of swapping all my stuff to blue LEDS, the indicators for the HVAC are white.
Problem I'm having is hot spots for the 3 circles of the center console for the HVAC backlighting.
I ended up using 5mm LED for the blue, and 3mm LED for the white. I accidentally got the 5mm but found a way to make them work.
Has anybody found a better way to deal with the hot spots though? I am considering running a parallel array of them and using some regular wire/drilling holes to see if it will fix the issue
The LEDs i used are 12V source, 4V forward, and 20mA and require a 470 ohm resistor. If wiring 3 in parallel you won't need a resistor though. The size of the resistors was a problem, as was the size of the 5mm LEDs. I got creative and and the resistor on the outside of the bulb holder.
