I did the HCF mod just before leaving for NJ (Pine Barrens) this past weekend, and I was super happy with the MPG results. I run straight MT tires in the 285-75-16 variety, and I have been averaging 14.1 MPG for like 6 months, but I actually averaged 18.9 MPG on my 180 mile trip to NJ.

I know it was just a fluke getting that much, initially, but I only dropped to 17.1 after wheeling all day Saturday and the 180 mile ride back on Sunday. I checked it again this morning and we're still at 17.0 MPG over the last 4 days.

If I can stay anywhere near a 17 MPG on average, that's aces in my book! I'll take those 3 extra miles per gallon any day of the week. A big thanks to the originator of this mod! :cheers:

Thanks ddnww! Mine is a white color piece...do you feel some good results after removing it? I saw some guys said it is not that worth it.

It's not super noticeable unless you have a better filter, I did this on both my v6 4runners with a k&n filter and it definitely breathes a lot better

woow, many folks say that no noticeable improvement in mpg after doing the hcf delete mod..........thats why i hvnt bothered doing it on my truck...guess will try it soon!...thanks

I know, right? I was amazed when I registered almost 19 MPG on a 180 mile trip - with 33" MT tires!

As of today, which is mostly city driving for my wife as it's her DD, we're still at 17.0 MPG after 5 days. Now, I only have 70K on the truck and I run full synthetic oil, so that may play a part as well. All I know is, I'm getting 3 MPG better than I have the last 6 months. That's all I need to know!

yes... if your intake isn't stock the HFC has already been deleted.

Toyota 4Runner Hydrocarbon filter removal

I recently did the HCF delete on my 08 4.0 V6. It was a little different from the right up as stated but I still got it removed. My only concern is should I have disconnected the MAF sensor? All I had to do was remove half my air box to get to the HCF so i didn't tear anything else apart. I'm concerned my mpg's will drop because I didnt' reset the MAF. Can someone confirm or deny this. Thanks :usa:

Easiest mod was having windows tinted! and throughout the week plasti-dipping the badges. Here when it warms up a tad more will the wheels be done...pics to come!

Replaced all the interior lights with LED lights from Bean LED Industries

30 minutes and $50 turned into a great upgrade.

$50!? I spent $15 on ebay. Here's what I ordered, and I have spares:
4 x Pure White 31mm 12SMD Festoon Dome Interior LED Light Bulbs DE3175 3021 6428 | eBay

5pcs 8 LED 3020 SMD T10 W5W 194 168 501 Car Wedge Side Light Bulb Lamp White | eBay

I got 2 of the 5 packs of the wedge bulbs. The dome/cargo panels color match the wedge bulbs.

Guy I used he charged me $150. Shops around here charged$350-$450! I've used him quite a few times and he does a good job. Plus he will go to the house or place of work as well.
