FIAMM replacement horns

I just received my FIAMM El Grande horns and they are nothing more than AM80S horns with a red cap and grille. Im so pissed about this because you can get these at NAPA or even Advance auto as they are made for various companies and re-labeled. Its only laughable, i clearly put too much thought into deciding which way to go, the AM80S or El Grande, which are "based on the proven AM80S design". Hilarious. I passed on the 80S because i thought the grandes were going to be special but the model# stamped on them is AM80S. To add insult to injury, when i took my intake off my 2010 F150 while i had the hood open i looked at the horns.....the AM80S is stamped right on them! Ive spent way too much time on this, i couldve just looked under the hood of what had a good horn to.start. i think someone on here went to a junkyard and got some off an old F150, which is my new recommendation. Dont waste time online if you can get them locally, unless you like the red caps and crimped on grilles. Im just laughing at myself at this point good luck dudes, and as always, this is a great forum.

Got Hella Horns

I ended up ordering some Hella Horns... 118db high and low tone. I did get a good reaction from a lady not yielding to me while I was on a roundabout today, but I thought they would have been louder.

Anyway, I got a good deal on them, but I may still end up going to air horns eventually.

Hellas FTW.

@Okki: Did you use the relay? It's pretty much required to get the most out of the horns.

Hi Ryan, No.. I was short on time when I did the install so I just plugged the two OEM harness leads onto the back and grounded them.

Did you notice any difference pre- and post relay? Did you trace the two power lines to where they split off a central line? or did you simply use one OEM connector to power the relay and tape the other one off? Where did you mount the relay?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that Hella horns are directional. Try standing in front of your vehicle while someone else sounds the horn, you might decide going to air horns isn't worth it.

I'm not whining about a 20 dollar mod. I'm annoyed with myself at how much time I wasted worrying about something that was as simple as this, as well as everyone else on these horn threads. I thought it was interesting that all these people are looking for amazon links and videos so they can hear what the "el grandes" sound like when all they had to do is piss someone off like me and wait for me to blow my f150 horn at them. Simple. Sorry you don't see that, but I would've gladly paid twice as much for the horns had I known they were the same ones so I could've put them on my girl's 4runner last weekend. Just look at how much activity on this topic there is, ridiculous. You'd think we were trying to figure out true dual exhaust setups. :jump:

@Grant, Good Point... May set up the laptop to record the horn one of these days.

I'd have to agree with you on this. I might end up getting the hellas cuz my el grandes sound like a regular horn and kinda weak... I was hoping a for a lot more since there was so much attention on the forum.
