You going with OEM CV axles?
I can understand using aluminum skid plates as the 4Runner does get heavy! I'm pushing 5500 lbs empty weight on my V8 4runner and thinking I could re-gear it or maybe get URD super charger. I think I may re-gear since a supercharger is 6k, plus I don't think supercharger it for the mountains would be ideal lol.
Looking forward to your future upgrades! :dancin:

Sport hood getting painted. Front CV axles getting replaced as we speak.
HeftyFabworks aluminum winch bumper, metaltech OPOR sliders, DT long tube headers, and most likely a URD supercharger at some point.
Regarding material... steel will need to be hit with rattle can enamel from time to time. I am fine with that given the frame requires the same. However, these trucks are heavy AF. So the question is how serious are the trails planned? If doing most of the driving on road, occ off-road, it doesn’t make sense to go for steel when aluminum is a lighter alternative and depending on the fabricator, can be very strong. For example, the RCI under belly aluminum skids come reinforced with aluminum beams welded in. These beams hit my URD y pipe so the pipe will need to be cut at some point.
