Fully upgraded audio system with DVD touch screen!! PICS!!! 56k NO!!

There is only one set of preamp out's and I'm using all but the center channel I don't see how there would only be 5v if I had 5.1?

The sound quality is much better but I came from a Scion Pioneer deck so I'm not sure if it's the voltage or just the deck.

I really need to fine tune the equalizer but it seems so complicated with all the "zones" and options for listening fields etc. I had to turn the sub down to -6 because it was just bass...I just turn up the bass knob when I need more "boom".

I used to use a lot of mp3 discs in the Scion unit I tried one of those but there is no way to quickly get to say song 83 except to slowly move to next song...like you said why can't we use the number keys on the remote...grrr.

If you are playing a song either from a CD or from IPOD and you go back to where you can see the pic or the symbol that says "no picture" and you touch the pic you will get the screensaver...looks light blue with something like a fricken snowflake lol.

I wired the IPOD to that small black cubby above the glove box...also the USB port, very handy and out of the way.

I also might add sirius radio with the nav...not sure though.

Great thanks for the headsup regarding the screensaver. you might be getting 5v pre-outs but they are only really used to match the gain on your amp with a slight gain in SQ

I cant get the screen saver to engage. Tapping the "no photo" when playing an iPod takes me to video-in where it says no signal....music still plays

there is no photo box when playing CDs...perhaps im missing something

It really has nothing to do with "matching the gain" on the amp. Preouts come in different voltages on different decks. Most of the good ones have 5V. The purpose to this is that with a higher output the amp doesn't have to work as hard. And, as a matter of fact, depending on your setup can have a huge affect on SQ. Just my two cents after being away for so long.

That's what my deck does too.

Sry if this has been posted here, but just a FYI for the 8120 & 812 owners, you can change the startup screen too. I got these instructions & convert link from the Crutchfield forums.

Here's Kenwood's email:

Thank you for contacting Kenwood USA Corporation. As an authorized agent for

You need to add the convert program to your USB device. Follow the
instructions below. Convert program is attached to this email.

To enter setup Mode, Press and hold FNC & EJECT keys, then press RESET Key.
* Release reset key, and hold FNC & EJECT Key until illumination activates.
* Connect the USB Thumb drive containing image file and convert program.
All files must be in the root directory.
* There is no extension on the convert program.
* If you want to change the opening image to your own image (i.e., company
logo), Press OEM Image.
* The OEM Image will be grayed out till files are seen on USB
device.
* If you want to put original KENWOOD opening back, press KENWOOD image.
* Select the image you want to use.
* When the image is loaded, select Enter Your new opening will remain for
few seconds and then switch to the Source Select menu.

very very nice install the "speed wire" is great for one run of 8 wires all in one, I'm currently designing my system for my 4Runner, yours gives me more ideas, is the box 4 cubes before or after sub displacement? this will affect the total output :artist:

I'm almost positive it's before. It will affect sound a little. Let's say your port and subs take up .5 cubes and you only start with 4 cubes gross, that only leaves 3.5 cubes, so output would be different.

yea its before, I decided to just get 2 more type R's and run 4 of them at 1ohm. They would be getting 550rms each.....should be plenty
