How to increase comfort and reduce vibrations?

Hi T4R forumers,

I am a longtime lurker here, but a rare contributor.. I am a Canadian working temporarily in the Middle East (Riyadh) and I am going to purchase a 2011 Prado (I believe it's built on the same frame of the 4Runner.. please correct me)

I recently test drove the Prado and I was surprised at the magnitude of road-related vibrations I was feeling.. I am talking about paved roads.

I absolutely love this car.. The features/utility combination is amazing, plus my work involves occasional desert surfing! So I am not going to look for some other 'car' !

My question to the forum: is there anyway to improve the comfort and reduce those cabin vibrations? e.g aftermarket shockers, seat modifications or anything else..

Make sure that the one you tested didn't have the tires over-inflated. IMO, that's probably the number one reason for the kind of vibration you describe. It's a common problem, especially in new vehicles.

Yes the tire inflation is key.

I think I am going to deflate the tires a little bit and re-test it..

I'm not suggesting under-inflation, just make sure they're not over-inflated. Good luck.

I'm not suggesting under-inflation, just make sure they're not over-inflated. Under-inflation will bring you a whole new set of problems. Good luck.
