Anyone know if this will work?

I'm finally getting around to doing this. So the resistor connects the blue and white but just so I'm clear both sides of the blue and both sides of the white correct? Still keeping in line and not crossing the two over?

Rear o2 delete?

This has been a very nice experience just joining the forum and finding all of this information. I just bought a 97 with the 2.7L 3RZ. The cat has been deleted, and due to that according to the seller, is the cause for a CEL. I have verified that there is indeed no cat. The rear O2 sensor is just hanging up underneath the vehicle, zip tied out of the way. My question is, is there a mod to allow the O2 sensor to give a 'normal' reading being out of the exhaust? Would I need someone to modify the ECU? They way I understand it is 02 sensors read RICH and then LEAN... So Im thinking this potentially is not possible. Perhaps my best bet is to have a bung put into the exhaust somewhere and then do this mod. Any feedback helps. Thanks :thumb:

Question about the antifowler

Hi there, apologies for the necrobump but i just wanted to thank the OP Robb235 for this post. I used this on my (now daughter's) Subaru Forester and as soon as I reconnected battery and started the car the CEL cleared. Excellent.

In my case the headers originally cause a P0420 code, then i used a sparkplug anti fouler to raise the sensor out of the exhaust flow a bit - worked for 2 years until the anti fouler rusted off so her 02 sensor was dangling around down by the exhaust! Never mind the P0137 code that came along with it. Since i could not get the remaining rusted out anti fouler out of the bunghole, even with PB blaster, I resorted to this trick.

Advice to the average joe like me (e.g. amateur). Unless you are a master solderer i'd go with another connection method, since in my case at least they were aluminum wires (pretty sure it's aluminum anyway going by it's resistance to solder) and simply would not take the average solder i was using. I'm not new to soldering, but again far from great at it. I didn't bring any flux to my daughter's either so that didn't help, but I doubt I had strong enough stuff anyway. I ended up using alternative methods to secure the wires.

Here are the caps and resistors i used
Sorry! Something went wrong!

Do you happen to remember which antifowler you used and what size? I'm having this issue on my 03 as well

Why not using it on front O2? I mean with LT Headers.

because the front O2 is what the ECU uses to do fuel trims. Where the rear O2 simply sends a signal as to whether or not the CAT is functioning as it is designed to. you want your ecu to trim fuel as needed but the rear O2 doesn't control anything as far as tune only acts as a monitor of the cat efficiency.

Good evening, i know its a old post but i met a huge issue on my 4th gen srv5 2005 petrol 4 runner. And am going to attempt this hack to recover it, hope it works.

my issue is lead. The place where i am we still use LEAD fuel, of course catalyst are not happy with that and i get Bank 1 P0420 and bank 2 P0430, of course the catalyst is ****ed up, therefore i need to remove it completely and will try this resistor/condenser hack, hope what i found is suitable, its not exactly what OP is recommending as my capacitor is a 50 volt capacitor while radioshack's is 250 volt, but the 250 is not available. its still 1 microfarad though, fingercrossed till tomorrow i guess

Didnt work for me, after placing the sensors back ( i have 2 of them) i get a P0138 code and a P0158 code, and in addition i get a P0606 Code ( voltage issues the first 2 and ECM failure the third one) need to look for another way round

I wish there was a way to make a flange o2 cheater extension with this style on the 4runner.

Not certain what you are trying to do, but the flange itself is pretty trivial to replicate if one has access to a machine shop with CNC gear. How thick of a flange spacer is desired? I can get such an item made, and supply the two M8 bolts in a longer configuration to mount the sensor to it. A second gasket may be necessary.

I dont see what this accomplishes except to pull the sensor out of the exhaust stream....is that the point of what you are trying to accomplish?

Yes, pulling the sensor out of the exhaust stream is another trick to getting the sensor to make the exhaust code go away.

For the non flanged sensors the spark plug anti foulers work well.
