25 feet of 0/1 power wire...some of that for ground

4 pairs of 4m RCA cable so 8 connectors in total..is that too many?

they have an inline fuse rated up to 300 amps

4 0/1 terminal connectors

some 16 gauge acoustic research speaker wire from eBay

Seems good to me. That wire from Knukonceptz will be really nice. Which kind are you getting? They are three or four different options.

Nice buys for sure. You will be happy with those products. I'm not sure on the RCAs to be honest. I'm thinking three. One each for front, rear, and sub, but I could easily be wrong. It doesn't hurt to order more I don't think. You could return the product or sell it to someone else.
 
Now that I know I going to have remote-on on the back of the HU I need to find a remote on wire. Is it anything specific or can I use any kind of wire.

I need to look into that.

I tried searching for that and I believe that it can be any wire. You might want to look this up though.
 
Looks like there's an option of what size fuse I want with that fuse holder.

Any ideas?

I'd go for 200 to 250 amps.

No problem. I love helping people buy car audio for their cars.

I saw your other post in the 4th gen area about cutting a hole in the fire wall.

I'm not sure how my installer did it. It was probably a circular bit. Something that you could put on the end of a drill, but I'm not sure.

The hole they cut is not much bigger than a quarter, if that much. They also put a rubber gasket type thing in the whole so that the wire would not rub on the sheet metal.

Ok here is a really rough sketch of what I plan on doing.



As you can see the light blue are the speaker wires, red is the power cable to batter, dark blue is the RCAs from the headunit .

Is this the best way to run the wire?

The speaker wire will be run down the center of the car underneath the carpeting....is this possible.

I will be removing the entire back of the car as per this guide:

Let me know if the power/speaker wires are far enough apart.

Just went out to the truck at lunch hour and saw how easily it comes apart. The Japanese are so efficient LOL

Lastly, is it easiest to run the power cable down the driver or passenger side. Im looking to use an existing grommet in the firewall.

That looks good to me. I would run the power wire on which ever side the batter is on. You might have to run it along the very edge of the car, like where the body and door meet, not sure though. The speaker wire should be fine if ran under the carpet anywhere.

I've seen guides that say you are supposed to have your RCAs and speaker wires far away from each other. I'm not sure if this is true, but it couldn't hurt.

It should sound good. Your not skimping (sp?) like some people do. Some people want this awesome sound, but only spend a few hundered on crap speakers and such.

You get what you pay for.

Yea that's fine I can separate the RCA cables. I guess I can run them down the opposite side of the power wire leaving the speaker wires in the center.

Im just curious as to how to run the speaker wires through the center console.

Ive seen this guide:

But it gives me no indication that I will be able to run wires from underneath the carpeting in the back seat up underneath the armrest. (i guess) If I can get it into the center console I guess it will be a piece of cake.

That must be a good job if your able to post on here all day. I guess it would have to pay decently well also.

I just bring my laptop and surf. Then know that when Im surfing there is absolutely nothing to do!

I work in the IT department of the largest law firm in NJ btw. Summer job kinda thing because my dad is the CFO.

Next summer is internship for sure at one for at one of the Big 4

Any ideas on running the wires through the center console?

Ah, so your family is pretty wealthy. I was thinking this was the case. I think it would be fun working in the IT department.

Are you going to to an Ivy league school?

I'm not really sure about running the wires through the center console, but I'm sure it can be done. If it was a speaker wire or even a RCA you hole you would have to cut would be really small. I doubt that anyone would notice. You could also run the wire on the side of the center console under the carpet. After the carpet ends, under the dash area, you could run the wire up into the dash where the HU is located.

I wish I had a job right now. I've put in a few applications, but no luck. I might be doing this thing online though to get a few dollars. I'm still in college though so it's all good.
 
Going to be a sophomore at Lehigh University in PA.

Double majoring in Accounting and Finance.

It was so hard to justify to my parents putting any money into a brand new 40k car that I got for Christmas.

I do however value money and know how to save. I typically spend only 1 paycheck a summer...the rest goes to savings but this summer that is just not the case LOL!

You go to Clemson?

I have a couple buddies that go there.

That's a good website for information.

It doesn't look that bad. He also talks about splicing wires which you might need to do.

I was scared to start messing with my 4runner at first, but it's really not that bad. The worst parts and when you have to pry something off. I felt as if I was applying too much pressure, but that's really what it takes.

Did that guide mention which tools were required? I know when I was doing the deckplate mod I had to go out and buy some metric sets. You might have to do the same if you really get into your cars' inner workings.
