Oh. There we go again, learning something new. :D .

That HU looks three times harder to install than mine was. Probably because yours is going to do a LOT more stuff.

The only things that I could really identify were the wires on the left, the antena connection, and the usb.

The wires on the left were the ones that my harness from Crutchfield connected to.

How is that Paint img of how you are going to run the wires going?

Can RCA's and speaker wire be run next to each other?

Bigrupp, should I be able to identify the cables needed to splice into for the head unit if you look a couple posts back I have some links.


 
It's pretty easy. You should be able to search and find a post that has it listed, or else google a wiring harness and see if you can dl the instructions for it. It would have all the stock wires and colors in it. That's what I did. I dont remember where I got it right now. I'm at work so I don't have it here. As a matter of fact I shouldn't be in this forum either. :D
 
Yes it is. I should be working on this patient monitor, but no, I had to log in and see what was going on. I'm thinking today won't be very productive now.

Did you use a harness for your JVC HU?

Will I be able to splice into wires that are already there?
 
Yeah, as it is Friday I know I sure don't.

I did use a harness since I still have the JBL synthesis stuff hooked up. It's very easy to tap into what you need though.

I think I might take apart the dash tonight to become familiar with it.
 
Got the wiring from KnuKonceptz today. It is some REAL nice stuff.

EVERYTHING!!!! will be here by next Tuesday including the HU!

And....my grandfather said that he would pay to have it professionally installed. Although another $500ish, he said that I work too hard to screw something like this up.

So that's what Im going to do. Although I really want to do it myself, I'd honestly rather have it done.

I hope that none of your help feels fruitless. I could have never done any of this without you and all the other members help. I will make it clear that if the installer wants my money, I have the right to watch them like a hawk the entire time...what do you think they will say to
that LOL?

Anyway thanks again, I learned SO much in just a week's time.

I will be sure to take pictures when everything gets here.

P.S. the Alpine PDX amp is built like a tank!

How does that wire compare to a quarter or dime? I've never used the stuff personally. How thick is the coating?

In my opinion $500 is a little steep, but hey, your not paying for it.

Isn't that PDX pretty small too? I hope it has a small footprint.
 
I just estimated the $500.

Its 130 for 4 door speakers
150 for amp so im assuming with HU and subs it will be around 500.

the PDX is 8x10....its super small

the copper in the wire is just about the diameter of a dime...its ridiculous..pics to come next week!
 
The price for the door speakers are great! I got my amp and subs installed and wire run for about $90 out the door.

If they try to charge you like $50 for the subs, that is gay. All you have to do is connect them to the terminal cup and then screw them in.


8" by 10" is super small, and it puts out over 600 RMS! I think mine is like 13" by 10" or something.
 
yea the birthsheet on the PDX is 100 a channel and 401 for the sub...pretty nice...good indicator of that 800rms alpine coming on monday!!
 
Hey guys. Finally got home. It was family cruiser night tonight and all the nice cars come out so I felt the need to let them hear my 4Runner. Ha.
Getting it installed with no money out of your pocket- nice. Although you'll be missing out of the satisfaction of saying that you did it yourself. It is nice though when someone does all the work.
Still looking forward to pics. I'll be taking some more this weekend and hopefully getting some more dynamat and stuff installed.
I got a bike rack for the hitch today and found that it rattles like a son of a *****. I don't know what I'm gonna do with it.
 
Im glad you say yours hit hard. Everyone on caraudio is saying that I am underpowering my Type R's with 400rms to each. You are technically underpowering your W7's as they could be taking 1k each!

Glad to know they still go bump in the trunk?

What rattles/flexes the most on the truck?
