Official Carnage Pics Thread

The crazy thing is that his airbag didn't deploy. He (barely) missed the right front crash sensor on his BMW by about an inch!

He got lucky. If someone backs into me and if i see in my rearview mirror that their airbag(s) didn't deploy, i'mma back into them and make sure they do deploy. :jk: :zoom: :lmao:

I don't see no inclement weather in that area. Would you might happen to know what was his excuse (texting, not looking forward, not paying attention, distracted by a female, checking out his stereo, etc.)?

Zeee germans are defiantly going to charge more than 3k to fix that.

Sorry for your SUV.:happens:

I was referring to parts only. I work for a BMW Parts Dept, so I know that's a pretty close estimate, labor will be at least $1500-2000 more. :biggrin2:

He said that he got rear-ended by someone else, and the other driver left the scene....yeah right. I have pics of the rear of his car, and you can tell that it's scratched/scuffed a bit (probably from a previous incident), but the rear bumper cover is perfectly aligned with both rocker panels

Accdg to those pics alone, looks like he was trying to pass your wife. And since there was another vehicle on the opposite side, he just had to rear end her with his right side of his front side (bumper/headlight). I might be wrong tho.

Driving home from Anaheim and got clipped by a buick, whom sped off, but have a witness that saw it all and got their info. Im ok, car will get inspected tomorrow.

That's what you get for leaving San Diego! LOL Just kiddding. Some of those OC drivers can be brutal.

Some idiot slammed into my wife's Limited about a week ago. Fortunately she wasn't hurt. Unfortunately our 4 Runner will be in the body shop for at least 3 weeks due to a couple of parts being on backorder. Total bill (insurance is paying): $2544.00

My wife was stopped at a red light when the other car rear-ended her. Do you wanna see pics of the car that hit her?

was there damage to frame underneath or just bumper?

how fast was other car going about???

There was no damage to the frame, only the bumper cover, impact absorber and hitch were damaged. The BMW impacted our 4Runner @ approx. 35-40 mph (guesstimate). Now, my wife is driving my '05 MB E500, and I'm stuck driving a Corolla (rental) for the next 2-3 weeks. The Corolla has NO power, but I really like the MPG's! It's nice to see 32+ MPG (avg).

wow thats truly amazing your 4R only sustained that kind of damage AT 30+ MPH. LOoks like they really did beef up the frame in this bad boy!

Seeing your 4R like that brings chills up my spine since i will soon have one exactly like yours with 3rd row

The corolla is good, despited the low rated power. Ive had mine for 10 years, treated it like crap and it still runs like the day i drove it home from dealer (with the exception of front suspension which I am replacing myself). I was also rear ended the other day and very minor damage in the corolla if you can believe it

We are still waiting on the parts from Toyota, most of the marts should be here by the end of the week except for the front door shell which is on backorder from Toyota and we are not expecting that till sometime mid next week. I also have found some additional damage the the vehicle once we took the car apart the new estimate totals are $ 6252.87 and $ 1945.27. I have the a new completion date of 04/23 with the supplement and the delay of the door from Toyota this timeline is if we do receive the door mid next week.

grumble..i want it back meh!!

Id rather them keep it there and continue to work and look for damage than me drive it around and risk more damage, will look better in the insurance eyes if its kept there as well.

I have my '91 honda accord to drive, I was just throwing a tantrum because its only 5 weeks old.

I wanted to let you know that your 4 Runner is all painted and in our polishing department. We will start putting the car together tomorrow and are still expecting to have the car completed for you on friday.

yay!

I'm so sorry to all of you, these stories make me cringe. I too just recently received my first battle scar in a parking garage downtown. I was backing into a parking space and all I heard was SHHHHHHH. There was no beeping, no nothing. I of course got our ready to shoot someone and noticed the enclosed duct work above. Apparently with the lift, now I need sensors on the roof. :bash: Thank God it was just gyp board.

I have some damage from our vacation trip. Two rock chips in the windshield (one of which is now a 1 ft+ crack even after getting them repaired), and some pretty good smudges in the paint on the hood from a piece of a tire hitting it on the interstate. :(

That sucks! The cop should have tested his 'drink' on the hood, looks like a screwdriver to me! I really hope they take a look at the other car in the accident, see the other damages and realize either this person was a fault because of their history or they may be scamming people and keeping the insurance money.

I had my 1st damage the other week. Wife left the tailgate up, started pouring, I drove into the garage, literally. The air deflector was hit by the handle of the door, enough to put 2 big scratches but not enough to 'feel' in the 4R. The part I felt was when the garage door base made contact with the huge 4R chrome structure on the back. Broke all but one clip off the inside, but no damage to the gate or window. It could have been so much worse. My last SUV would ding when put in D with the gate open, the 4R does not, until you hit a few mph, which I was not doing. Also my last SUV was a bigger V8 so no mistake the gate was open, this thing is too quiet :) Went to the dealership and ordered the big chrome piece, the 4R emblem, Toytoa Emblem, all clips and bolts, & gasket, came to about $250. Now just waiting on the touch up paint for the scratches on top. The door did not fair too well, has a nice sag across the front now when full up. I have to put a couple backing pieces on it now, or just replace it, but since I have 2 side by side I would have to do both, not sure I want to do that now.
