1st gen with 2015 OEM SR5 rims
Trying to get my new to me 4Runner back to stock. After lots of research, hopefully accurate, I ended up agreeing with the info out there stating solid front axles have 3.5" backspacing, and independent front suspension all have 4.5" backspacing. So looked up a few pics of similar ideas, picked up a set of used rims with about 300miles on them from a '15 4Runner SR5, and put on the closest tire size to match stock.
Verified diff gearing, 456 in rear and 488 in front (another project) and found I should have 31x1050xR15 tires. With the new rims going from 15"x7" to 17"x7", I found a tire calculator and got a real close match with 265/70/R17.
What a difference the new tires and rims make! On road handling is far superior then the rims and tires that came on the 4Runner when I got it (15" x7" w/3.5"bs&225/75/R15). Feels like a modern SUV compared to old setup.

I've been considering a pair of 16"s from a 2001 tundra. But wondering if it would hurt the gas and strain the engine too much. So the rides better. Do you think it effects the engine too much for a daily driver?

9" of lift was on 38s now on 37s after sas and 3.4 i want 39.5 iroks

No, there's just no weight in the front due to no engine

No lift, all new shocks with moog coils in rear, and 32x11.50r15's on the stock wheels (15x8")

Yea they're 32x11.50r15's on the stock wheels, no lift or modding to pinch weld or anything. Fit real nice
Ok, this seems like the right place to post this.
Time for wheels and tires on the '92, stock ride height, with new moog springs in the rear. The picture (assuming I can upload it correctly) is as it sits now on stock wheels and 30x9.5 BFG at's. I'm looking at American Racing AR767 15X7, ZERO offset. Which should give me 3.5" backspacing, right? Please correct me if not. That should give me about an extra inch inside I think... I would like to go with 32x11.5's, but I dont think my 5spd and 4.3 gears would like them very much, so unless you all change my mind, it will be 31x10.5's. The big question, is this the right wheel, or should I look for something closer to a stock backspace?
