I had the same issues Squ1dward posted. I'm on my 2nd TYTO and it still has the volume issue. Metra is not willing to help me even though they know it's an issue. they deny anything wrong with it and blame on my install. LOL. So maybe i'll order another one at some point and see if I get a good one.

Does anyone know how much wattage the t10015 puts out. I want to upgrade my speakers in my 2005. Has anyone connected an amp to it. I don't see how it can be done bc there are no RCA inputs???? thanks.

I just bought the same one and I'm trying to figure out what nav module works with it.

My radio is actually pt546-00170. I think the difference is mine is a toyota radio, because the splash screen is toyota. And I think yours probably has 'Scion' written on the bezel. Anyway my radio experience has been a disaster. I ended up buying a the older FR-S radio because my new ones buttons stopped working. But I like the newer radio more, so I ended up randomly finding a brand new one with nav for 350 on eBay which I feel is a great price.

The nav you're looking for, I'm pretty sure, is pt296-00170. They go for around 500 on eBay alone.

I have an older FR-S radio that should work with it. Is it a simple plug and play or do I need the original vin from the nav unit, to have it work on my radio? This is my first time, venturing into nav on a radio.

I did a little more research and It looks like the part number is PT296-12160 for the navigation module for my particular Scion head unit.

Just a note - if any of you are looking to add navigation, search for part # 86100-YY050 on ebay. Seems to be some sort of ID for nav itself - I've seen it cover all PT296-471x0 parts.



I've seen plenty of these units pop up at ~$100; I got mine (PT296-47120) about a week ago for well under that.



Also, contrary to one of the posts in this thread (I think CookieRoe's?), 47120 does support Entune.

I'm seeing different information and trying to clarify information for the nav extensions.

Does anybody have data on he following:

What are the part numbers for the navigation modules?

Here's what I've been able to find:

PT296-47140 - Prius Bluetooth extension - some of these mention "gracenote" and don't mention navigation

pt296-12160 - FRS navigation extension box - Toyota parts links shows this unit has Bespoke AND Aha

PT296-00170 - Corolla navigation module



Do all of these part numbers work with both the T10015 (6.1" screen) & T10017 (7" screen) radios?

Which modules are Bespoke vs. Entune?

That's the difference between Aha and Entune?

Which modules require VIN registration (I.e., they won't work with our vehicles)?

Well, I knew my radio was some sort of corolla radio, but the fact that you called out pt296-00170 as a corolla nav module is embarrassing for some reason, haha.

I can tell you that newer Nav modules don't work with the older pt546-00160/t10015 radio. The harness is incompatible with the newer radios. You can see here,

Additionally, the GPS connector is different. On the 6.1 radios, the GPS connector is square.

From what I can tell, my nav module (pt296-00170) only gives me nav. The only app I see is gracenote, but in the nav there's a pandora icon, but I haven't really played around with it. I was also under the impression that 'bespoke' is Scions 'entune'.

My navigation came together with the head unit, out of a 2014 XB. The NAV part # is PT296-00142-AA
The head unit is PT546-00140-BU

I just got the USB cable to work with my iPhone 6. It charges it, plays music and can use the audio for map apps. The first time I tried it I used a standard lightning cable attached to the adapter in the back of the NAV unit. That didn't work. I then swapped it out for a 30 pin cable and tried an old iPad I had. Success. I ordered a 30 pin-lightning adapter and it worked.

The volume issues are not coming from the radio itself, but the METRA TOYO interface. My first one lasted about a month and half and started to work intermittently.

Called the company, they denied any problems. When I said it was all over the forums that others had problems, they were speechless. They said it was probably a loose connection on the harness. Wasn't...

Only advice they gave was to return it to Amazon. Good thing I bought it from amazon, cause the return was easy. New one installed about three weeks ago. Used same wires, but new module. Worked right away and seems solid.

As for Entune, grab that over AHA. I have AHA and it is pretty worthless. Apps suck. Never use it.

BTW, if anyone needs a stock unit to max the volume levels, I have a Prius unit that I used. $45 shipped

Hmm, I may have a similar issue but not blatantly terrible sounding as some have reported. In my case, I had to monkey with the level coming out of the radio (using four Phillips head screws)so that all four channels were producing an equal amount of sound. The side effect of this is the actual volume of the radio is not as loud as it should be on "max" setting. Not a huge deal but apparently my hearing is going south and driving with a head wind, I could use more volume.

The other side effect is that there's a subtle ignition whine that comes from the radio even when the radio is turned off. This wasn't there with the original JBL Synthesis radio so I've introduced this noise somehow. I'll play with grounding and the usual suspects.

Noise is probably due to a bad ground or radio is not grounded properly.

Just installed the T10017 (7" Scion head unit) this past weekend along with the steering wheel phone controls.

Works great and it seems to be much louder than my old Scion T1809.

I soldered a USB cable to the USB harness (it was cut but included in the purchase). It works for a USB drive, but for some reason I can't figure out how play anything from my phone through USB (but it does charge fine).

Thoughts?

Install is super simple plug&play on an SR5. It took me 20 minutes to install and took my sound system to a whole other level (even with stock speakers). I was very happy with the upgrade. In the setup menu, when configuring the HU, make sure to pick the XB, not FRS as what car you have. I first picked FRS and the sounds was disappointing. I figure the acoustics are tweaked based on the size/speaker configuration of the car it was supposed to be installed into (the the XB is closer to a 4RNR than the FRS is.

Make sure you have the USB plugged into the entune module!! Won't work on the radio itself anymore. I did indeed register just to help you. I couldn't find anyone who had this same issue and posted about it. Thanks for the pics.

And everyone else...

These headunits are available all day for about $120, and generally you can get the wiring you need too. Search junkyards, when you talk to them, tell them you need the wiring.

The junkyards list them on eBay for 2x when their actual selling price is (110-115) if you call directly... They'll sell for that + shipping.

I've bought 2 of them from different junkyards in the past month. Both ended up at 130 shipped. It's hard to find the entune modules though.. eBay is best.

So I took the 4runner in for the infamous dash pad replacement and the dealer did an awesome job of replacing the dash, looks awesome. I only had a small crack to begin with but took advantage of the recall. However, after getting the 4runner back, the camera no longer worked. I took it apart and found they didn't plug the camera in...oops.

I also noticed that I had the USB cable plugged into the radio and not the Entune box, so I moved that cable while I had it apart and shazam! USB now works. Thanks Ngonerogwu for the pointer on that one. That's two I owe you friend.
