Budbuilt Winch Tray?

I own a Superwinch Epi 9.0 winch left over from my Land Rover.

Here are its specs:
Superwinch, LLC - EPi9 - 9,000 lbs/12V

I can't find any kind of instructions or fitment for the Budbuilt winch tray. I did find some pictures of a Warn VR8000 mounted on the BB winch tray. I was just looking at some of the photos and was surprised to see the right side (as sitting in drivers seat) of the vr8000 is almost touching a hard line that I believe is for air con, but have not gone out to the truck to check.

I think this might be a problem for me.....

Here are the specs on the Warn:

The Warn is only 6.2" from the right side mount bolt to the end. Overall length is 20.8"

In the superwinch manual, when I zoom in on the dimension drawing I see it is 7.05" from right side mount bolt to right side. Overall length is 23.66"

For the guys that have the BB tray, is there room to move things around? Do you think the superwinch will fit?

Do you have a link or can scan of any instructions? I'm not even sure, does the bumper cover have to come off? I've seen pics with the cover off, but was not sure if those pictures were from design testing or just a regular installation.

Here is the photo of what I believe is a Warn VR8000 sitting very close to the hard line.

I can't tell if there is room to adjust the plate position to allow for the slightly larger superwinch. The tube running over the top might be in the way of the superwinch also. I can't tell from the photo.

[I put it up on craigslist at an aggressive price to see if there would be interest and have already got a lot of responses. This may be a moot point by later this afternoon, because it could be sold....]

Ok. I sold the superwinch and line for $375.

Can someone confirm that the Warn VR10,000-S will fit on the Budbuilt plate?

The VR10K-S is on sale right now. $734.99 shipped, with a free wireless remote (~$140 value) and $50 mail in rebate.

So eventually after rebate it'll cost me $309.99 additional, but I get a brand new winch with 1,000 lbs greater line rating, brand new line, and new-technology wireless control. Negatives are no safety thimble on the line and the line speed of the Warn is slower than the superwinch.

I don't know if it fits the budbuilt mount, but I sure hope it does, because that is my plan, and I just ordered the VF10K-s and remote.

I "think" the vr10,000 will fit.

So far I see that harper fitted a smittybuilt xrc-8, then replaced it with a warn M8000 on the BB plate, BUT his plate was custom, so who knows what will fit in the production model??

Someone else fit a vr8000 on the bb plate.

(only two or three of these things sold??)

The vr10,000 appears to be the same as the vr8000, probably just different gearing and slower line speed and more money to get the higher weight rating.

The vr10,000 is a little smaller than the M8000 so it should be good to go. I did read some comments about harper having difficulty fitting the m8000.

Overall, I find the lack of information regarding installation and fitment from aftermarket companies very frustrating. :smashputer:

I called BB a while back. He did not know if the VR 10,000-S would fit. :rtfm: Yeah right.

He did not say what would fit or what it was designed for. He did say that the design now has tabs for mounting lights and that it now has holes to accept either a hawse or roller. So basically the design has changed from what I have seen in the pictures posted on the internet, and it is completely impossible to figure out if anything will be compatible. :bash:
