Nevermind, now they magically found "something" about an abnormal noise from the front suspension specifically. Want me to come in and try to replicate the abnormal noise and then they can replace with the new parts.

The clunk or noise only happens to most of us during the winter when its cold. They will want to replicate the noise but that wont happen unless you get some crazy cold snap and I don't see that happening. If you have a cool service guy he can read up on it and realize that he can't replicate it now but will still make you happy by getting the work done. You may already have the new shocks if you didn't hear or feel the clunk. Check the part number on your shocks. If you've never had this problem then maybe you are good to go.
I think this is a good showing so far by Toyota. Hopefully it fixes the problem.

Does anyone have a video of the clunk? I hear some spring squeak on the driver side while articulating. I wonder if that is what everyone has been talking about.
My TRDP is two days old. Just crawled underneath. front billsteins have part #s PTR13-89160-LF and -RF. So looks like I've got the revised parts.

Nope, it is a clunk and only when it is cold (late fall, winter, early spring generally).

I would be interested to see what the TRD engineers and Bilstein engineers discovered, and changed in the suspension parts.

I am thinking with every service department kinda different on their rules if a Toytec lift would really need to be removed. For example my service told me would not alter warranty. They still want the revenue if they can from warranty work. As I recently mentioned seems like crap shoot.

I also think it's no coincidence and rather interesting Toyota released the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro with internal bypass shocks from FOX (not Bilstein). Then proceeded to market and advertise it (at least initially) as an artic expedition vehicle (which is just nonsense) considering it has shocks designed for high speed desert racing. This was likely necessary to convince all the naysayers (us here on this board and tacoma world) that the new shocks indeed will not clunk in cold weather.
Standing by to see if the new 160 TRDP shock absorbers clunk in cold weather and hoping Toyota just didn't kick the can down the road on the solution to this one...

I've been told that the new shocks are on backorder right now. The guess is that all the new shocks were going to the ports to be installed on the incoming Pro's. Has anybody had theirs swapped out yet?
Also, my Bluetooth stopped working and the dealership had to do some sort of update to fix it. All good now.

New front replacement shocks going on tomorrow afternoon. They came in today. Going to be interesting to see if I can tell or feel any difference and or will we have to wait for winter to tell. I'm guessing the later....just hope this is the real solution.

Ok, the new 160 replacement shocks are on and now I need it to be 35 degrees here in Alabama to see if there is no clunk. Seriously though, really hard to tell if there is any difference. I thought that things felt a little smoother on the way home but I know that this could be in my mind, lol. They gave me no crap about the toytec top plate spacer and the tech put it right back on. Shout out to Limbaugh Toyota. They did a great job and did it with no hassle. Would love to know what Bilstein did to update the shocks. Looking forward to hearing what the rest of you guys think after you get it done. Come on winter....
