I haven't had the clunk, but the dealership is swapping the front shocks out for the newer version as I type this. I'm wondering if I will feel any difference, as those that had the clunk before swap.

I think you will. I've had mine for awhile now and to me they are a much better shock in the warm, hot and hopefully cold. Hasn't gotten cold here in Alabama, lol. Let us know what you think after you get them.

Just driving around this weekend, I can tell a difference in the updated shocks. They are stiffer and the whole truck feels tighter, but not in a bad way. I would say anyone that has the older version, do anything you can to get the upgraded ones put on. Even if the clunk isn't there.

Finally a cold day where dealer could replicate condition!
Front shocks being replaced as I write this. So far no mention of issues due to Toytec lift.
Will post back with results.

[MENTION=120776]natetech[/MENTION] I still have the factory UCA. I personally haven't noticed any squirliness. Could the alignment be off? I have had mine aligned at the Toyota Dealer so maybe they dialed it in better? Proper alignments seem to be a crap-shoot where it's hard to find a place that can get it done right.
I have yet to pick up the truck after the shocks have been replaced so I will see if anything has changed for the worse. After all they have basically had to rebuild each coil-over, I would presume they had to do an alignment again but I could be wrong there.
I will post up a follow-up once I get the truck back and drive it around a bit.

New update. Bad news, they took out my lower perches and replaced with factory. Now I have to wait for tech to bring back my lower perches and pay another shop again to put them on. As it was a TSB item they say they can't put the perches I had from Toytec back on

Sadly, not mine. Service tech that performed the work mentioned he could not slide the Toytec ones off. He also noted the different sizes from my Toytec perch and the factory perch. So he assumed that the TSB for the clunk was due to the different sized perch not realizing that it was lifted. Claims if he had known ahead of time that I had a lift he would not have performed the TSB.
had no problem putting the top spacer in just wasn't going to put on the bottom ones.:frusty:
Irony is that he mentioned he lifted his own truck, but advised that any mods be done after the warranty period is over.
He had to hammer out the Toytec bottom perch from the shocks that were getting sent back to Toyota. He said about 3/4" before they slide off. Good thing I looked as soon as they pulled the truck out for me!
Dealers in this area don't have experience with off-road add-ons. or due to warranty restrictions the service techs are pressured and afraid to deviate from the factory-only line.
Needless to say I am losing faith in returning to this dealer for anything other than the pre-paid oil changes...and picking up OEM parts.
Thats bullshit, I went to my local Toyota enleast 4 times befor them finally fixing my left front strut. Now, the fact that your tech had no idea you had aftermarket kit in there befor performing the work shows how much education he has with suspension work lol. It sounds like he mixed up the perches with your factory ones. I had the toytec spacer kit as well and there was zero problem with the the new instillation. I would suggest talking to the manger of the service dept.

Why couldn't he put your Toytec perch back as it was the shock that was defective, not the Toytec kit?
Why would you have to incur extra expenses since they are the ones that didn't place your parts back on your truck?
Time to speak to a service manager, methinks!

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction. I think I will be calling the service manager on Friday and go over this. At first I was just worried that my Toytec parts were gone. Frankly I am too slow to blow my fuse, and I think of what I should have said after it's too late in these situations.

I wanted to give some positive feedback for the "clunk". I have had the TSB done with the Toytec lift, with many 20 degree days here in CO and the suspension has been quiet and clunk free. I also have put about 5000 miles on the new suspension without any other issues.
I hope the rest of you have the same positive results.

Further update. After a short discussion with the service line manager the bottom perch from the Toytec lift was put back on today at the dealership. They took care of it without issue and were surprised that their tech did that in the first place.
Having had the new shocks on over the past week without the bottom 1" perch but the 1/2" top spacer on the ride was quiet, clunk free but seemed a little bit more on the slow, bouncy side of things. Nose dive while braking was evident to me where it wasn't before.
Now that the full setup is installed the ride is the way I personally like it. Firm, less on the slow, bouncy side and reduced nose dive while braking. At the same time the shocks are still quiet and no more clunk.
I think this resolved the TRD Pro Clunk.
It did take about 1K miles when the TRD Pro was new for the "clunk" to appear in cold weather. Others have had the TSB on for some time now and report that it is holding steady so I am optimistic about the resolution.
Hopefully my experience gives others a heads-up on what to look out for. Seems like most folks with the same setup (TRD Pro + Toytec TRD Pro 2" lift kit) have had their dealers perform the TSB for the clunk without question. Mine got a little bit difficult (made me wait until the cold weather below 55 degrees F before doing it and service tech that almost returned my Toytec lower perch along with the old Bilstein shocks without mentioning it to anyone) but I am happy to say the dealer took care of it all correctly in the end. I think my case was the only anomaly reported in terms of issues with the service tech performing the TSB.

Took my TRD to my local Toyota yesterday about the clunk. My driver side was replaced in July, although they could not confirm the noise but took my word for it and got the new shock on order. I currently had the Toytec spacer kit put on and they still performed the work and installed it no problem. Although this time they did not, the tech said whenever my shocks were hyperextended the UCA rubs on the spring, although this happens on both sides this is what he said the clunk was due... The Manger said I had to take off the kit if he was going to warranty it. Really disappointed and don't know what to do. after market to toyota = :sniper:
