What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I bought a new TRD Off Road Premium last Saturday. Today it got it's first bath. Then I got out the hair dryer, removed the dealer sticker that was on the liftgate and removed some leftover glue with Goo Gone. An hour later, I watched it the pour the rain.

Went scouting for the upcoming dove hunting season opener, Sept. 1 in AZ. Desert was incredible - clouds light drizzle (looong overdue) but still really dry no water in any of the stock tanks. But a good morning in the Runner.

After 7 months, my Gobi ladder finally arrived. I installed it and all the other toys I've gathered up over the past several months from random places online.

I like the half cargo basket with the recovery pads on top, I'll be loading it up with some wood and chairs soon once I go camping. A bit too hot lately, but I can smell it... fall is on the way soon...

Another good day of upgrades for the truck.

Longer panhard bar to correct wheel alignment. I went with this one because I do wheel my truck and adjustable that could need re-adjusting, no thanks.

Dobinsons sway bar end links for the rear. These are adjustable and once I had the correct length they got red loctite (which I’ve removed before as needed).

Did you go with the duroflex joints??

Looking good... But.. 7 MONTHS. WTF. Your patience far exceeds mine.

Yeah... ordered on January 13. I did not order through Gobi direct but through an off roading company in Las Vegas (they had a GREAT price). I feel it was mostly due to that as after I placed my order, they removed the item page.

I've been horribly busy lately and had been pestering them through the months... I actually had on my calendar on Monday to call them and demand a refund/cancel my order and get particularly nasty... but, low and behold, it showed up, and now it's on my car.

Good to see it wasn't through Gobi. Been debating on getting one but don't think I could wait that long. Haha. I'll avoid any other shops, especially in Vegas. Haha. I'm glad you got it though. It does look good on the vehicle.

FN restocked, so I grabbed some while I could. Sold an old competition pistol, so it's going to pay for them and some tires.

Hi Mike,
Just to let you know — we've received your order, and it is now being processed:
17" FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro - Set of Four Wheels - Matte Black

AND...USPS finally delivered my package, so while I had a break in weather after Laura passed, I put in my Anytime BU Camera system...

Here are the ones I have. Other than the automatic version, I think these look the best with the NS edition.

I agree these look best on the NS. Have them on mine. Only complaint is that they’re a little narrow for me, so I end up sliding past them when getting out most of the time. I’m sure when winter comes along that’s going to leave some nice salt stains on my pant legs. They’re just right for my wife, though.

I bought a set of TRD integration skid plates from Shrockworks during the last group buy. They have been sitting in my garage rusting for months and months.

Finally took them to Springfield Powder Coating and had them PC'd Hammertone Black. Was charged $60 total for all 3 skids which included sandblasting and powder coating.

Saturday evening I unbolted everything laying on my back under the truck. Then said screw it - I'll see if a local shop can bolt them on for me. This would be so much easier on a lift.

This morning I went over to a local tire / repair shop. They charged me $50 to install them. I tipped the 2 guys working on it $10 each. I helped out with the 2 PITA stick nuts.

We were able to get 3 or the 4 allen screws in and gave up on the 4th.
I may redo those 2 bolts that are pointed down instead of up.

Homemade roof rack

Had to go back and add a wind fairing and some feet closer to the front. It’s finished for now until I decide it needs a floor.

I did the H11/H9 and 9005/9011 headlight bulb swaps today. Whoever owned my ORP before me installed some Innovited HIDs that kept misfiring on the passenger side so I figured I'd take the cheap route towards the correct style of bulb, and brighter to boot. Modification wasn't as easy as I would have liked but I didn't have a small file to work with so I had to use a Dremel and a pocket knife. Overall one of the best value mods.

Spent Sunday changing out the rear shocks and fixing an issue with the shift lock not working.

Had to take apart the gear shift assembly and clean it up.

Sadly I didn't finish the run. Will post more on my build thread

Today I finally finished up an On Board Air system, based around an ARB CKMA12.

I had originally wanted to reserve the spot in front of the passenger firewall for a dual battery setup. But then decided that's not going to happen for a while, so, like many, I decided to use that space for a compressor.

Work on this started about 10 days ago. I made an initial template out of cardboard (free), then made another template out of very light gauge aluminum ($5) to get a good check of the fit. I then got a 12" x 14" piece of 1/8" aluminum plate ($9) and cut and trimmed it based on the light-gauge template. I took it back to the shop where I purchased the plate, and they put the three bends in place using their large press (a bargain at $10). Given the time invested with this build, rather than buy decision, this only made sense because my time must not be that valuable...

Doing it this way did allow me to cut the tray to place items where I wanted them, without worrying about the cost of cutting up someone else's higher priced starting point :). And if I decide to relocate it in the future my investment was just mostly my time.

I used some information from this site as a starting point for decisions on the manifold: ARB Dual Air Compressor “The Wifey Air System”. However, I've changed out some of the components, based on my research of reviews.

Further, I've not gone as far as he did, with running air lines to each of the wheel-wells (at least for now). Instead, I'm going with the 4-tire air distribution system, similar to the MORRFlate (and others). Once the final parts for that I'll post some notes about it.

In the last picture, the gauge has been holding stead at 60PSI for over an hour. Re-tapping all connections whether they need them or not, plus Teflon tape is a marvelous thing...

I'll post a thread (or maybe I should finally start a build thread), with some of the design decisions/lessons learned.

And another thing from today :). A project started and finished on the same day. Who knew that could happen?

This particular problem may only apply to the 2020 models since we get actual pressure readings, rather than just an idiot light. The solution may come in handy for other needs, though,

Did you ever install an air compressor under the hood, and want to check what the TPMS read-out inside the car registered? But you couldn't, because the 'hood open' warning screen on the dash won't let you see the TPMS screen?

U-Bolt + a bit of scrap aluminum + lots of color so that I won't forget it's there = problem solved.
