What did you do with your 4runner today?

I pulled apart the front door panels and tightened the retaining bolts for the window. The passenger side would rattle, especially when closing the door. Turns out, the forward bolt was unthreaded to the point of nearly falling out. Tightened that up and greased the tracks.
Continuing work on tracking down a P0430 code..
The fun never ends!

Some goodies have come in for my 2004! I have a list of things I want to take care of over the coming months, but up first on the list is the air filter, and second is changing the transmission fluid and filter. Thankfully, Toyota made it super fast and easy to change the air filter. I happen to know that the Afe cloth drop-in filter is 11 or so years old, and hasn't ever been cleaned or changed. It was filthy. I changed it with a Bosch paper filter. I kind of wish I spent the extra $3 on a Wix, but all in all, I'm very happy to have it changed. I don't really feel a difference with the butt dyno, however the ear dyno says that it doesn't sound as cool. Slightly less of an exhaust note almost.

I'm still waiting on the transmission filter and pan gasket to arrive. However the Aisin OEM transmission fluid HAS arrived. I'll be very happy to have that changed. I don't think it has been serviced in 100/120k. Oh well. No time like the present!

Heck yeah. Thank you for the links, I’ll follow along just as you did. I really want to get the fluid level perfect because the shop that replaced the 4L60e in my tahoe left it at a quart low and the new trans was gone in 15,000 miles

Dang that sucks. This process wasn't terrible. I drained out 3qts, and put almost 4 back in (to account for a trans cooler I added). Then put it in the temp check mode and drained out the extra to the right level

No, I didn't drop the pan. Filter has been done by a shop before, so I didn't mess with it

Not today but a couple days ago I replaced the passenger side rear axle seal. A bit time consuming but not too bad. The section of the seal the spring sits in was completely worn off so the spring was just dangling. Hopefully no more leaking into my brakes.

Speaking of retrofitting, I read about someone taking the fake rear fog lights on the 03-05s rear bumper, and retrofitting them to be real rear fog lights. I'm not sure where I read that or what they actually wound up doing, but I thought it was really neat idea, and if I ever have the spare time/budget for that mod, I'd love to take a crack at it.

Pressure washed the main carpet (haven't taken the trunk apart), truck's been sitting for a while so rodents were living in it. Rodent stains are pretty much gone, only thing I couldn't get out were some rust spots but they're covered by trim or the console. I originally planned to order vinyl flooring but since the existing carpet came out OK I'll buy all-weather mats instead.

Also ordered a new blower motor (dropped it and cracked the case ) and cabin filter from Rock Auto. Heading to the parts store to get an ozium fogger.

It’s been a while since my rig got any love. Today I welded the lower link skids up to the frame. I made these from 2.5” 1/8th wall square tube. Reminded myself how terrible a welder I am. Booger welds galore! They were inspired by [MENTION=8167]mikestang[/MENTION], mikestang.com.
Removed the Lamin-x film from the fog lights and installed Sealight 3000k LEDs.

I did some looking around at the HCF Delete- as I wasn’t sure what it was- and after looking at a few pictures, I realized that mine has been gone for a while! Oops. Must have gotten thrown out when a previous owner installed that AFE washable air filter that hadn’t been changed in 10 years.

Dang. Do you have a write up on your tube bumper install? I really want to replace my china bull bar with something that doesnt hang so low. Looks great from the front but looks dorky from the side, and I can smack it on my driveway if I pull in too quick so I know it hangs down as much as it looks like it does (its a really jacked up driveway, but still)
