Your Thoughts on a 2010 Trail Deal

Well, it was definitely the trades that had everything messed up. So, at the end of all of this, they put the selling price for the 2011 at $1000 above invoice ($36720), but the combined trade value was more than $1000 higher than it should have been ($31242). Basically, if I drop the price of the 4Runner to invoice ($35720) and lower my trade values by $1000 to $30242, the tax-adjusted trade value came out to pretty close to what I could realistically sell the two vehicles for privately ($32918) and buy the 4Runner at invoice. Sure, I could probably end up a couple of hundred bucks extra in my pocket by private selling the two cars, but now I don't have to deal with the hassles of selling them.

Regardless, the deal is done and now I've got a sweet 2011 coming my way at some point in the next 2 months. Of course, just yesterday, a rock kicked up and cracked the windshield in the Mitsu. So, I'll be out another couple of hundred bucks to fix that. Yippee.

Thanks kestrel for the info. Now regard that crack windshield, if you have Full coverage insurance that is something it will be covered under your insurance.

My insurance uses a glass repair service that repairs those rock dings at no cost to me. They'll even come to your place of work and do it in the parking lot. I've had this done maybe three times, and it works well. Call your agent.

EDIT: I see you said "cracked", not "chipped", that's a little different.

Yeah, the rock hit, scared me to death (it was right in front of my face), and the windshield cracked. It's about 8 inches long right now and sure to get longer. That's an unavoidable problem here in Arizona. We had our Honda Fit for 5 months and had to replace its windshield, we had the Super Bee for 2 months and a rock chipped its windshield (got that one repaired), and the Mitsu lasted 26 months before it got hit.

Regarding the insurance, no-deductible glass coverage is very expensive here in Arizona, and when I ran the numbers, I discovered that I would be money ahead replacing one windshield a year than paying for the insurance! So, my last windshield was August 2009 and I'll have to replace the Mitsu windshield sometime in October 2010. I came out two months ahead and no insurance claims. Woo hoo!

What options did you get?

KDSS

I did send an email to the dealer about the TRD wheels that are now on the 4Runner section of Toyota's website. Haven't heard anything about those yet. Of course I wouldn't be able to get them any time soon because I'm going to put different tires (Revo 2 E-load) on it the day I pick it up from the dealership (more $$).
