12.5 mpg's and burning oil?

this is my first cold winter with my 97 sr5 4runner I have had it for about 1.5 years almost 20,000 miles and never had these problems, for about the past 2-3 tanks of fuel/month she's burned about 1 qt of oil, I always have used the same oil (mobil hm5000 5w-30)and try to use the same gas station cause I use a card (lukoil) i changed the airfilter, new plugs and cleaned the maf sensor and was seeing arround a steady 16-17mpg or atleast 235-240 miles to a tank, tonight i topped off the oil, and filled it up with sunoco and a bottle of lucas treatment, but could anyone give me any tips they use during colder weather for keeping this thing running like a champ?

Turn the heat on, and steer out the slide....

It may not necessarily be burning oil but instead leaking it, check your valve covers.

Check the PCV to make sure it is not clogged. Look for oil in the TB for possible blowby as well as blue smoke starting up in the morning.
