98EJ8’s 99 4Runner Build

Hi everyone I'm new here but have been around a couple 4runners and Toyotas for a bit.
Recently acquired a 99 SR5 that had an engine bay fire. Very clean outside and inside. 142k miles 5 speed.
Planning on rebuilding the engine but it needs basically everything in the bay replaced. Probably going to get a donor car to swap everything.
It has Rancho shocks and some yellow springs not sure what kind. Looks like lifted some haven't measured height yet.
Hoping to get help from everyone on here more knowledgeable than myself.

Anybody know anything about the suspension I have on there?



Also this thing sits behind the battery and the firewall and I have no idea what that is.

That looks like the remains of an EVAP canister to me. I don't if the 99 had it there though. Did this vehicle suffer from fire damage?

It had a thin filter element on top of the mesh. Yes the engine bay had a fire.

Thank you. I was looking for a runner with a clean body and a 5 speed and lucked out on this one. I prefer to do engine repair versus body repair. Although burn damage is a first for me and this one will need everything in the bay replaced. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Haven't found one yet.
I dont know if I can say that I'm good with wiring lol but I'll just be replacing basically all the harnesses affected by the heat, won't be trying to fix them. Plus they're all cut up by now [emoji23]

Not worth it- you will regret it- why do you think the insurance co. totaled it.
To many unburned 4runners out there to waste time and money on this one.

if you find a donor you can use the harness from that. Probably stating the obvious but this would not be a project anyone would do unless they had a parts truck because replacing the things you need to replace with new would be WAY too expensive. You are really going to be up against it trying to fix the harness especially with all the melted plugs and sensors and everything. honestly, i wouldn't even start without a viable donor.

Not my first rodeo. Sorry don't mean to sound rash. [MENTION=107674]JRZEE2000TR4LTD[/MENTION] not buying anything new except what's necessary. Currently looking for donor cars. Dads planning on buying a Runner with body damage so we're buying a donor to share lol
