Can someone please explain what is this. In the future i was planning to do dual battery setup and i see there is another group buy going on. But i have 2013 sr5 and where everyone place second battery i have this instead

It is the AIP (Air Induction Pump) now on all 13+

Your 4runner has this right? Have you taken a close look at it to see if it's easily relocatable for a dual battery setup? I noticed this too at the car show last week and was thinking what a bummer that is for the 13+ owners that want to install a second battery :(

Hopefully when more peps have them somebody will figure out how to move it.

Has anybody put a battery back where many of have compressors?

Duc - is the duel Kodiak system better than simply exchanging the main for a Die Hard Platinum Group Size 31M battery?

I would imagine it's pretty hard to jump start yourself with only one 31M battery if it dies :peep:

I read in some thread here that the dual Kodiak nets you ~10-20% more CCAs over a stock battery, so not too shabby if that's the only place you've got room for a dual set up :)
 
I know some people did the Kodiak dual battery system, but i think you can't just simple buy the kit, you also have to purchase the dual battery and it comes out to $895 dollars, i think a little pricey.

It is expensive but consider what you get. 2 very high quality deep cycle batteries (odyssey is extremely well known in the boating industry), battery tray, hold downs, solenoid, all the wiring, military terminal ends, cables cut and terminated specifically for our tricks, and a switch. The batteries alone are worth $400+.

It is a bit on the pricier end of the spectrum but all of those little bits and pieces Ducmonsta mentioned add up quickly if you're buying higher end components; also the convenience of not having to run heavy gauge battery cables across the engine bay is great. All in all, I think you get more than your money's worth with the Kodiak setup.

If I am understanding the layout correctly, both batteries are connected together during cranking, unless you purposely switch it off (so I think you shouldn't experience any issues?). Also, out of curiosity have you tested it to see how well a single PC1200 can start the 4runner?

One battery is always the main starting battery. The switch that Kodiak gives you has 3 positions.
1. Main battery only for starting and normal operations. 2nd battery completely isolated from anything else, including charging from the alternator.
2. Both batteries linked for double capacity. Both batteries being charged. This position only works with the ignition on.
3. Both batteries linked, same as above. But, this position works with ignition off. This allows for self jump starting.

Batteries are always isolated from each other to prevent one from draining the other. Unless you leave the switch on #3. If you leave something on long enough to drain both deep cycle batteries, well, you've got problems.

This was actually helpful to find out, some of this information is not listed anywhere. Like i'm in search for a lift and i was confuse on the difference between regular coil overs and the ones with reservoir until i talked to Ducmonsta.
 
For those who has double battery setup in two different parts of engine bay and also have air compressor, can someone please measure the length, width and height or the tray and air compressor. I want to see if the tray with battery would fit on the other side of the intake closer to windshield on the right side of the engine bay and if air compressor will fit next to new AIC toyota placed like it is on the picture.

I know once I get the lights and a winch it will be nice to run a dual battery setup.

I haven't had any issues yet. I also haven't used the aux battery to the point of draining it yet. The only things wired to my aux battery are all my lights and other stupid little accys. None of which have been left on for very long periods.
