Got my steering wheel adapter kit and horn. Still waiting on the 2" spacer.

The first can of red I bought didn't match as well as I'd expected (Portola red, it was too red, Firethorn red would have been a better match). At the same time, I've been having doubts about whether I want to keep the full red interior. Decided to go with black for a change.

SEM Color Coat in Landau Black. I got excited and tried it out on the tailgate trim/lock lever. Impressed!! Dries tough. Handling the pieces less than an hour later had no effect on the quality of the finish. Even fingerprints wipe right off. The finish doesn't fill in the texture of the original panel, plus the panel still appears scratched and gouged. Might sound weird, but the scratches look great! The black contours to the texture of the panel so well that it looks like it has always been a black OEM panel. I'll report back when I get the cargo panels painted and installed.

The old panels were as brittle as it gets. I found that the right side speaker harness was severed and laying in the bedside. There was a left speaker, an old deteriorated 6x9. New items on the list: OEM speaker brackets

Installed. The clean paint brings out some of the warping in the plastic, but it's negligible. Gotta order some black clips.

The GRT4000 spacer for the steering wheel came in today. Installed with Grant installation kit 3593 for Toyota and signature series horn. It's exactly what I was aiming for!

Later, I'll paint the column cover black, it's faded and ugly.

Took an ECT switch from a 2nd gen. Since the wiring isnt the same, I used the good mechanical parts of the 2nd gen switch and replaced the busted up inner workings of the 1st gen switch. Basically just swapped the white door with the spring on it.

My friend John has an 85 pickup with a 22r-te. He's pretty knowledgeable about them. Nice to have the shop manual in human form.

Took the turbo off and over to the bench. I used a sandstone block to get rid of any high spots on the turbo manifold. These 22R-TE manifolds warp like crazy, this one is actually pretty darn flat. Wonder how the one on the old motor is doing with 265k on it.

Rear main seal is not the best brand, so I've got another one on order. Last thing I want to do is have to change a rear main after 6 months because of a dried up crappy seal.

Another HTC seal. These black ones are notoriously bad.

Oil pump had silicone on it too, when it should only be an O-ring. Some of the silicone made it into the little oil chambers. Some also made it between the gears.

Took off the valve cover. It's an aftermarket head. The 261 cam is nice, but I have no experience with cams on these motors. It looks like the lift is a bit extreme, but I guess I'm speaking too soon

Took off the oil cooler. Sucker needs a 30mm socket. The seal against the block needs replacing.

This motor sat for a while after rebuild. The valve springs had some rust going. Had to use the air compressor to get that out.

I performed my first ever valve adjustment. Adjusted the intake valve clearance to .008", exhaust valves set to .011". Adjustment can always be done later if need be, considering the cam.

There was an oil pan gasket. Ripped that off, oil pan is now installed and sealed with permatex silicone. The seller forgot to send the oil pickup tube and oil pan bolts, so I had to source those. New gasket for the pickup tube and another for the oil drain plug.

About the motor and it's current stage - it's in my garage, ready to be dropped in. The only setback is the oil lines from the CT-26. Those lines are the last thing I want to install inside of an engine bay. Once I can get those on the motor, I'll drop it in.

Also stopped by autozone. Bought two radiator hoses, Duralast Gold cap and rotor kit, STP drop in air filter, PCV valve, and thermostat gasket. JohnsD90 also sent me an OEM battery tie down.

In the meantime, I'm cleaning up other things. The old motor was nastier than I have ever seen a motor get. Anything cooling related is drastically nasty. Too bad I need to use some of it! Can't believe this thing ran!

Not much progress to post. I cleaned up the thermostat housing and installed it, along with 180 degree thermostat and new seal. Also installed the 3 main water lines and some more vacuum stuff. Replaced the VSV because I broke the nips off the old one :( Also got my cap and rotor ready.

Ordered 2 feet of 10mm silicone vacuum line... they sent me 10! Replaced vacuum hoses for brake booster with silicone.

Gotta install the coolant hose next to the intake side of the turbo.

Maybe later I'll order some ebay silicone couplers and intake tubing and mock something up.

Oil lines for the CT-26 arrived. Still trying to get the old ones from the old turbo off. I'm going to do my best to see if I can use the CT20 oil line, but I need a closer look with the line off. Ordered a set of gaskets for the turbo lines.

Still waiting for the wideband and CT26 outlet flange. A couple other things still haven't arrived either.

Well done!!! Good thing you didn't sell it. Any plans on doing the whole interior in black or you going to stick with the two tone?

Thanks dude. The interior isn't really my priority, but I do want to do a 2 tone.

The seats are going to be done in black. I put some black floormats in and will put in some black carpet. Gonna get another dash cap and probably paint the rest of the dash black.




I didn't get the oil lines figured out yet, but I think I'm going to look into some Supra forums for upgrades. Would rather go stainless braided than mess with welding the OEM stuff together. Depends on what I can find.

Middle coolant hose, OEM. Found it in the truck when I bought it.
