Looks great man. I've got the v6. Old MAN Emu 895 springs in the rear stock up front with 5100s all around and set at 2.5 in the front. I got quite the lift in the rear from the 895s. Looks and rides great. Just wanting the fj springs up front now to level it out a bit.
Thanks to your post I think I know that I need to get them set at 1.75 now with the fj set up. Definitely keeping the 895s in the rear.
I'm having a heck of a time finding a gd set of fj 4x4 springs for my truck though. Anyone have some gd ones I can buy? I'm in Vancouver BC Canada area. Let me know Thx.

I was going to put fj springs all around with bilsteins 5100 to match. The place I order the fj coil springs from are out of stock for the front springs. What would be a good replacement? OME 885 is what I had in mind but would like to get some other guys opinion.

I've got the rear fj springs ready to be installed. What would be an alternative for the front since I can't get my hands on some fj ones?

305/55/20 rubbed like crazy for a while. heard it doesn't rub anymore after the springs and some more slight trimming. The first shop i went to to get the spindle installed told me they need to trim my bumper and then they hacked it.:dammit: not happy with that. but that just means i need to get an aftermarket one next.
Also saw your looking for front fj springs. Check on craigslist and get them shipped. That's what I did instead of searching forums. they always go fast on forums. I know thery're quite a few in so cal for sale on CL

Thanks I'll give craigslist a look. Been doing some more research and I might just bite the bullet and order some OME 885's for the front.
Just did my swap. no spacers installed, just springs here.:toilet:
2005 4runner 2wd v6 (168k mi) with bilstein HD (30k)
springs were from a FJ 4wd with i think around 70k miles or so. trying to find the email with the info.
The bilstein HD all around have ~30k miles front, <10k mi rear, had them on the stock springs and made the ride better on the freeway.
The rear seems to be a very slight lift, the rear springs were very slightly thicker.
the front springs were definitely thicker.
ride quality:
did the rear first and noticed the ride firmer just getting out of the driveway to reverse in. after the front, the ride is a lot firmer yet controlled. i still have to do alignment. most / 1/2 of the truck like bouncing around has gone however the front still feels bouncy, like when braking hard when parking and the nose goes up and down like worn shocks, altho shocks are pretty good. but hey, i come from sporty cars so i think i'm being too picky
handling is a lot better around curves. lean is less. the steering feels firmer and a bit more responsive. but i'll have to see after alignment.
overall great improvement, the ride feels more controlled now. it's not soggy. the suspension feels tighter on bumps. it feels renewed. i didn't measure but about 1.5" lift in the front. mostly did it to get a better ride

Found these springs on craigslist for $30. Came with the shocks even though I don't need them. Installing this week at the 2.5 setting on the 5100s!
Hi there, I have the 5100s set at 2.5 now with my stock springs on my 06. Just found a set of 07 fj front struts and springs for 80 bucks on CL. The fj only has 100,000 kms on it. I think that's a descent deal??
**I've been told by the alignment shops not to go over 3" lift up front. Setting the bilstein at 2.5" plus the 1" gain you'll get from the fj springs will put u over 3" which gives harsh angles for alignment and will start to do damage on parts.
I'm curious as to who has done this and how long will parts last at that setting? What is the max setting that is safe for this set up?

Even with the weight of the vehicle on this corner the UCA was tucking into the coils and ball joint angles were extreme with FJ coils and 5100's on the top notch.
I reminded myself of my original objectives for this build and being the tallest and damaging parts more often weren't on the list. I dropped it down one notch and felt much better about it. Lift height looks perfect at 1.75 setting.
Looks great. So setting the bilstein at 1.75 with the fj 4x4 springs still keeps you within the safe 3" lift parameter. Dales Alignment told me 2.85 is the safest hight without causing issues? I found out I'm due for a left cv axle too. I do enjoy the odd wheeling trip. You recommend sticking with toyota or going aftermarket?

didnt know the fj springs had bushings
i think its the shock that does not fit the top mount

Looks great. I've got FJs all around and Bilstein set at .85, but I'm wanting to do this setup, 1.75 front with 1.5 spacer in back. Do you need a new UCA for this level of lift?

Thanks! And no new UCA needed for this set up. I'm running my factory set up with no issues.

"The FJ has 3 models, all with different shocks. The base model has Tokico shocks. The Trail Teams and TRD both have Bilsteins, although the shocks are different between the two. The Bilstein's are definitely preferred, but any of them are an upgrade based on the responses I've seen."
Hey guys...sorry I only read thru the first couple of pages, but based on the statement above, I assume that 07-09 FJ cruiser shocks/struts will also be a direct fit into my 07 4Runner (No XREAS)? I found a local guy selling some but he's selling them as a set, front + rears, shocks/struts + springs. Thanks!
