Destroyed Spark Plug V6 3.4

Hey Jon, did you see the used (New to me) motor where the block broke off a bolt sleeve? I noticed yesterday it looked like the freeze plug was leaking…

What would you do?

I was thinking about getting JB welder marine and boat and call it good. Really would like to rebuild my 02 motor. The 99 one is in horrible shape-mpics a following

The used motor is in and I am back on the streets. Found some metal sparklers in the oil pan in somewhat milky but not really that bad. I don’t know. I think it was a lifter failure and small pieces were damaging the spark plug. So things far are good. It runs great.

Now wanting to tear the top end off to find out what the failure is for sure and possibly rebuild, sell or use as a back up?

There really shouldn't be any way pieces of a broken lifter could make their way to a spark plug. They're inside the valve covers, and while there is crankcase ventilation between it and the intake system, there's no way a piece of metal big enough to notice could make it's way through the PCV valve.

It will be interesting to see what you find when you take it apart.

28petey I would perform a leak down test on the engine before you tear it down, just for data, and a better understanding of the engines condition. I assume you have an air compressor? Your in Denver, correct, I'm not to far from you, I could swing by on one of my Denver area trips if you don't have the tool. From your pics of the spark plug I am still of the opinion that your engine long block was/is fine.

When replaced your engine did you by chance try and look at cat to see if any debris was melted to the inside of it?

So I knocked the cat on pavement lightly and did have debris come out. I bought some Cataclean and ran that.

Wow. It’s been a long time. clearock sorry for the late response. Been going through it lol hey you still interested in stopping by to check this out? I will be running the scanner again … runs fine just getting same lights as I did a year ago.

Would love to see wth is up with the old one though
