have you tested the LED's to make sure they actually work? You might just have some bad LED's or the leads on the holder might not be making contact. Otherwise, check if the voltage from the HVAC is 12V.

Decided to switch to blue interior lighting because my HU has blue, and I can't (and wouldn't want to) change the lighting inside of the Pioneer HU. I have to say, I really love the blue LEDs compared to the Snooki-Orange crap that Toyota forced on us poor bas****s. I only got around to doing the HVAC tonight, I need to order LEDs for the rear window switch and the 4WD selector soon.

Decided to switch to blue interior lighting because my HU has blue, and I can't (and wouldn't want to) change the lighting inside of the Pioneer HU. Is the voltage the same for the switches? Can you create a power source to confirm that the LEDs are working? I havent had a chance to crack open the hvac so I can't confirm what my voltage is.

Finished up the dash Saturday night into Sunday morning (finished at 4:30 AM,
including te extra hour from setting the clocks back). I messed up with the
tach, accidentally putting in a white LED, but I like the mistake! It fades from
white to blue as the RPMs increase. From now on, I'm gonna say I meant to do
that haha.

Some info on what I did
Here's one also showing the center shift control display. I added 2 LED's in the cup holder, One in the center glove box, and one in the small cig/power cubby thing. Changed the dash glove box light to blue LED's added a blue LED light bar on each side of the front floor under the dash (those ones blink, flash, scan etc...) 2 LED light bars in the cargo area that are on a blue lighted switch from dash. I can also dim and control all light with the factory dimmer switch.
Many of the areas that I have changed over to blue LED's I added several so it would be much brighter and or got the Hight power LED's and or the 4.5 and 6 led wedge bulbs. My advice is look aty what you have pull out your bulbs and do some looking around online super bright and oznium have lots of bulbs you can just plug in and not have to do all that soldering work. But the dash gauges is a different story I did not solder mine I did a little trick with the flat 505 LED's so I can easily pull out the blue and put it back top factory in just a few min's.
Now what I have not completed is adding LED's to light the door speakers changed out the radio for aftermarket and or just change it to blue, The light for the power window and the steering wheel controls. And a few other thing's I'm sure I am missing :wow:

Looks awesome!! Very unique to have the dual colors.

Unfortunately I did not take any pic's of the work on the gauge cluster but,
here is a link to the lights Tiny Prewired Super Bright Surface Mount LEDs - 12V DIY Plug and Play SMT LED
They come with a sticky tape backing what I did is stick them over the factory lights (others have posted the pic's of them) the factory is so small and I just don't trust myself to do that kind of soldering. So I used about 6 LED's, they are prewired, with a resistor. So I ran the wires out of the case, put it all back together and then put a inline fuse on and wired it to the dimmer switch. So the factory lights are still on and working they are just covered up to block out the amber color it's much brighter than factory. I also used these same lights for the cup holder. I think I must of added about 40 lights and could put another 10 in. I'm pretty happy with the way the dash gauges have turned out its been a few months and still working great!

Anyone around Austin, TX done this? I'd spring for some beer for some advice on how to get it done. Hate the orange lights.. and half of the display showing the gas mileage and stuff is a goner.
Also.. anyone know if it would be possible to fit a potentiometer in somewhere to control the voltage for the LED's? Guess it would depend on the LED's being dimmable, but it would be nice to have the option.

Would anyone here happen to know a part number or a place where I can get the steering wheel radio controls? I was replacing the LEDs on the steering wheel control yesterday and I held the soldering iron on too long for one of the lights. I fried the board.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! And if someone doesn't have a tremor in their hands and wouldn't mind soldering 3 LEDs on that tiny board... Let me know!

I don't know how much heat the stock LEDs generate, but I would be a bit weary of sticking something on top of them. They might prematurely blow or worst case destroy your board. Just my unsolicited opinion. I'm glad they are working great but I would check it from time to time.
You wouldn't have to hook them to an external potentiometer since the LED will dim normally using the stock dimmer switch.
Those tremors didn't stop you from doing the cluster :bigok: Can't help you with the part number though

This is very true but the gauges have much more space in between the LEDs and the other circuit board components. I'm going to go on a boneyard expedition in the 25 mile radius around me over the weekend. Woo hoo -_-. Hope I can find one or two extra radio controls. We shall see!
Offer still stands for anyone who wants to solder in 3 LEDs. =D
