I'm wondering why 255/80/17 is showing red when it seems so many are running them? I was going to go with 285/70/17 x4 with a 255/80/17 spare for better clearance (thinner tire). 2011 T4R TE.
Also off topic but there has been talk of desired alignment numbers. Things like "Go to a shop that understands what you need to accomplish with castor angles" I'm installing Icon stage 2 w/ tubular UCA but I haven't seen the alignment numbers people have been referring to and trying to achieve. I am clueless as to where to take it to get it properly aligned/installed in the AZ area. Lots of shops...who knows which are worth your time/money.

My other question is the 285/70/17 shows yellow "needs some trimming" yet that tire seems huge. You can really stuff that big a tire on stock suspension?

SOME tires in that size, with
SOME wheels, running
SOME alignment specs.
Remember yellow means it will fit but not without some pain.

Hate to write up the typical freaking new guy post but after reading 20 pages of tire info I couldn't find an answer. I have a 2012 SR5 with the stock wheels and stock suspension which I don't plan on changing anytime soon. Will a 275/70-17 BFG KO2 setup rub? From all the data gathered on this thread it would seem that there is a possibility it would. Thanks for the help

It might but probably not. K02 usually run a tad small. If it does rub it would be minimal and easily fixed either with fender liner moved slightly or mud flap slightly trimmed. If you don't want to ever rub then buy stock size and run stock wheel. Otherwise, go bigger and make any mods necessary.

Im looking for some one to post a recent receipt from a major tire retailer for some 285 70 17 tires. I am hoping to print it and get a price match. Right now it looks like $1,100 for BFG K02's, but I would be fine with Toyo At2, or Nitto Terra Grappler or anything like that.

I tried, but my waist is about a 33...So they were a bit baggy. It covered the thighs nicely though.:bolt:
See if they will just put one on front and take a look at it?? probably the only way to know for sure.

Check out page one. The chart says you're fine. Do a search of that size on google and add t4r or 4runner and see if that comes up with any search results.

I am currently running the older style BFG in a 275/65 18, I have had them since I bought my runner. With stock suspension I had no rub except on the drivers side front in revers on rafe occasion against the front plastic. As stated a lot of factors play into that but I would say any rubbing would be pretty minimal from my experience.

No problem. There are several members running that size in stock form with little or no issues. You "might" get a little rub on the inner fender liner at the most, but it's not going to contact any metal or even come close.

I have a 2014 4runner TE as stock as can be. I have looked through numerous threads and what i am trying to accomplish is make my TE look like the TRDP. I do no want a lift. The only thing i want to do is change the tires and the rims. I looked at the chart and matched it with the Black TRDP rims with the nitto terra grapplers P265/70R17 113S (AKA TRDP set up). It seems to check out at far as i am concerned but i could be wrong. Has anyone tried this and or have pictures that i can view?
