Safe to say you are the guy I e-mailed on craigslist. Glad the new ride is working out for you. Big Bend is toward the top of my list of LT tire places to go since I tore a sidewall at the mines last time I went. If you are looking for 4x4 use, go south next time. River Road and the drive in to the Talley site for Mariscal Canyon are very worthy. Of course, I am sure you know Black Gap is the most intimidating of them all though I did not attempt it in my subaru of the time.

Dang you J Hoss...your build is making me have urges, urges to deplete funds for the purpose of building up of 4R TEP (or maybe it's just the Winter blues making me want to have my 4R 'ready' for adventure come Spring). LOL
Big Bend pics were interesting! I'll be headed out that way the 1st -> 5th of April to meet up with a fellow landscape/nature photographer for some adventures in Big Bend N.P.

First, all credit due to T4R.org since I found the mattress idea here
I had this mattress delivered the week before the trip. [Coleman SUV/Packable Twin bed.]
We waited a day too long to book at the lodge so for 30 bucks figured this was the next best way to have an outdoor experience without bringing along the 6 person instant tent.
(The last time we used the traditional tent she insisted we bring a queen air mattress for that.) We covered the mattress with a queen size sheet,tucked underneath then had two queen comforters also tucked underneath for warmth (temps got into the 30s at night). This setup felt like a well padded sleeping bag and we had no issues with length including two pillows (I took the seat bottoms out and stashed them in the bear bins at the campsite.)
For circulation(having read about window fogging), just cracked the moonroof and laid some window screen on the top, held down by some magnets to the roof [picked up both at a Walmart on the way].

Awesome. I will be showing this to the wife to see if she wants to use such a setup at Enchanted Rock or Garner State Park one of these weekends as a test run.
I am thinking about getting some in-channel window covers for the venting aspect. Knowing my luck, the sunroof would be open 20 minutes and it would start raining.

Did you notice an appreciable drop in fuel economy with the Duratracs?
I have always run Destination ATs on my trucks (2 Tacomas and 1 4Runner), but I am looking to get something that is better for the ice and snow in Colorado and North Texas.
I put too many miles on my trucks to dip down too much.

Hola,
Been on this forum a couple days now, didn't know if this tread is still active.
Just got a '16 TRD PRO and want to take it out, I have been mudding in my old taco and my recently laid to rest '14 Crewmax 4x4 Tundra. Just not too sure about crawling... and ruining my exterior..
Any help getting me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I wish to hit HF this Saturday, but without sliders and more protection underneath, I am a little timid of the unknown.

If you have facebook look for the Heart of Texas Off Road Club, most of the members are based out of Austin and do trips to HF very often.

PM me your Facebook name.. and I'll add you to Heart of Texas Offroad (I'm an admin there). I might be going to HF on Sunday with a small group of stock oriented rigs. You probably don't want to go on your own without some insight on trail conditions... The ratings are all lies LOL

Question
It appears you plasti dip you lower front and rear bumper area (can not remember what they're called) as well as your badges. First, is that correct? Second, would you recommend that?
I've read that a lot of peeps get those sections wrapped.
Thoughts?
