Instrument cluster still dim
Finished this mod up a couple of weeks ago, using leds from Superbrightleds. However, the 3 #24 used in the instrument cluster are still pretty dim (24-WHP Cool White) are still really dim - not getting nearly the brightness I see in most of the pictures in this thread or elsewhere. Any suggestions?

A few things to add from somebody who recently learned what a socket wrench is. Today I replaced the 3 dead bulbs in my dash with LED's.
* If you keep your wits about you, this is doable by a newbie. Don't be overwhelmed by the pictures. Don't pull excessively on any parts. Make sure you got all the screws and bolts first. Some of them are hidden away out of sight.
* You will have to unplug and plug the various wire sets back into the back of the dash sight unseen. You should be able to do this without issues by feeling around with your fingers. I didn't need to pull any other wire sets except what was behind the dash/ gauge cluster unit.
* The bulbs I got from superbrightleds have polarity. Before screwing everything back in, test the dash lights. I used a blanket to keep out the bright daylight. The first time I turned on the car none of the dash lights worked. I had to pull all the wire sets out from the back of the dash, and turn all the bulbs 180degrees to switch the polarity. I didn't see any markings on the bulbs.
* The LED bulbs fit into tiny green receptacles which contain the original bulbs. Don't throw these away.
* After you do this, you will realize that the brightness of the center console (radio, climate control, etc.) is very dull compared to your dash. Changing these to LED's is on my agenda next.

how well do these dim with the dimmer?
I know LEDs generally do not dim well. I would like to replace all the lights with red ones, but still have the ability to dim them correctly.

Screenshot is too blurry for me to read the part numbers, but assuming you have a '99, you should have 3 #24's, 2#74's (instrument and climate) and I'm not sure what the other item in the cart is.Hey guys,

They will dim a little then go out
I double checked the OP's writeup, and i realized he listed the sizes with the links next to the non working pics, so went off of that. the 74 BHP's werent quite the correct ones, so updated my cart. Good to go now!

You may get "hotspots" with those #24s. Hotspots are almost unavoidable as I have them too as you can see on the picture below, however in person, they're not that noticeable. The LEDs you are going to use only have top-mounted LEDs so the light dispersion is very limited.

What was wrong with the #74s?
the ones I had were only 1 SMD, not 3
update: I don't know if I was sent the correct ones, but nothing I bought from super bright LED's would work where they were supposed to. I went to batteries and bulbs + and got 4 regular 74 bulbs and replaced them. I took the little green covers off the old bulbs and put them on the new ones and voila!
I made the swap to LED's about a month ago and after looking at pics in the thread again I'm noticing mine are not bright. I checked the polarity and they are correct and do light up. My problem is that my gas and temp gauges are not lit at all.
I have a 99, and used the 3 correct #24's, but am not getting enough output to complete the rings or the gas and temp gauges.
Any thoughts?

Hey everyone,
So I attempted this mod last weekend on my 2002 and ran into quite a few issues...
First: the speed/tach gauges (3x, #24), I was able to get them all to work after switching polarity. HOWEVER, when I was trying to add an ambient lighting mod (like Ripcord's) by tapping the green wire on the dimmer button, I cut that wire in half. After trying to reconnect the wire with a twist connection, the whole dash still doesn't light up. All other lights work (gas light, emergency break, ABS, etc.).
Any suggestions?
Second: The ECT/RR window along with the two right knobs on the climate control were previously burned out, and I was unable to get any of them to light up when testing them out, switching both sides to check for polarity. I used the Neo-wedge B 3 and 4 mm respectively.
Any suggestions?
