having not added it up that hit me like a ****ing hot chainsaw right through my heart.

just looking at the calendar and my remainder work...ill be able to put 2.2k in the bank. The parents wont be THAT pissed!

what year 4r do you have?

That's not a bad summer job if your pulling in over 5k in a two or three months.

I have a '98 Limited.

this is probably a silly question but to mount the sub just drill holes deep enough for the screws provided with the subs?

do I need to seal the box with anything?

I went out and bought some silicoln (sp?) and put in in each groove. I don't think it's that necessary. Just make sure the box is air tight. You don't want any gaps or anything.

The subs should have holes in them. You will just screw them down to the box. They also have a little gasket type thing that goes around it that covers up the screws. It makes them look nice.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing the pics of the install. I wish I had taken pics of mine so I could have shared with everyone. Are you gonna use any dynamat or something? If you think you might you should do it while you have it all tore apart so you don't have to go back and do it later. Some people might say it don't matter, but it makes a big difference. I'll never not use it in any future vehicles. Just a thought. Now hurry up and get it in so we can see.:D

That was something that just escaped my mind. You might want to look into some sound deadner. I would not get Dynamat, but there are other good brands.

This will cut down on some rattles and will help with road noise.

5 channel amo, dual subs and rear coaxials have all shipped and will be here tomorrow....the rest IDK they BETTER be here by next weekend

That is pretty fast shipping. When it all arrives lay it out and take a picture.

That is a LOT of stuff. Probably a good 200-300 lbs.

300lbs from where LOL?

Holy shit

I know for sure that the subs are at least 25 lbs each and the box is at least 50 lbs. The amps will be like 10 lbs each. 1/0 wire is kinda heavy.

I guess I over estimated. Maybe 150 lbs.

Now I need to be concerned about theft. Im debating of where to mount the subs where they are concealed yet receive air flow. Im thinking on the back of the box in between the seat and the back of the box. Ill strap (and possibly) lock the box to the two hooks on the floor there.

What do you think....wiring there is also very easy.

Thanks again Clemson.

BTW...where are you going next year to college?

Do you mean amps? I would mount the amps on the back of the seats or on the box. If they are on the box, then all a thief has to do is just rip the box out and they have the amps and the subs. If they are on the back of the seats then it is a little more work. Does your 4runner have the slide cover thing that covers the entire trunk? On mine there is like a bar or something that houses some vinal and it can cover the entire trunk.

Getting some L brackets and mounting one side on the box and one side to the floor is a good idea.

I'm not really sure where I'm going to college yet. A lot of colleges are sending me stuff in the mail. I've visited Sewanne, UNC, USC, Clemson, and Furman. There are too many choices. :).

I have the vinyl cover but I am not sure what you mean..

Ahh so your a junior?

Enjoy senior year, there is nothing like it.

Check out Lehigh btw - its a great school!

You can just cover your trunk with the vinyl cover and when someone looks into your 4runner through the glass they won't even know what you have back there.

Yeah. I guess I'm a Junior. This is the summer between my Junior and Senior year.

Lehigh is so expensive. Isn't it over 40k a year?

I'm thinking about majoring in pharmacy.

Yea Lehigh is very expensive. This year it will be right around 50k w/ extra fees for living in a fraternit.

Clemson is an excellent school!

Its not cheap either LOL!

You have a sick ride for a Junior. I was driving a 92 legend back in HS.

This is what it would look like:

Yeah. I really appricate what I have.

Today I was out with some friends and one of them just bought this '88 Mustang. When he went to show off the motor the whole drivetrain dropped out. It's nice to have a good car.

Clemson is expensive in terms of both out of state and in state compared to other in state schools. In South Carolina though, we have some pretty good scholorships from the lottery. One of them is about $7,000 for your freshman year and then if you are doing a math or science field it jumps up to almost $10,000.

I see what your saying about L brackets. Im really not interested in screwing anything into the floor. To secure the box;however, Im going to buy some hooks to attach to the top of it then strap it down to the exposed hooks on the bottom of the trunk.

Where do you think I should put the amp?

I would not screw into my floor either.

I don't think that screwing the amps into the seats will mess them up, but I'm not sure. Mine are on the back of the seats and if they are messed up I'll be kinda mad at the shop that installed it.

You could also mount them under the seats or on the box.

I'll go out and take a picture of my stuff to give you an idea. I'll also take pictures of the RCA's and speaker wire.

I was going to make a video of my subs, but I don't have the video camera right now.
