Magnuson Supercharger 2K Mile Review and 6K Mile Review

I'm going to give them a ring on Monday. This would save about $1500, plus I have a bunch of re-routing I'll need to do with some engine stuff (dual battery wiring, redarc bcdc, etc...). I'd rather do the install myself because of all the additional work a shop would charge.

How many miles you have on the supercharger now?

I don’t have a gauge on mine but it feels like it kicks in at 2700 RPM. I haven’t seen anybody post their experiences with the SC and 4.56 gears besides WFO9. My next mod will be 4.56 gears but with that ratio it seems RPMs all
Be at 2,500 RPM and if you’re right it’ll always be on boost at freeway speeds.
 
Anyone in the Bay Area want to tackle this supercharger with me . Have a beer (I'm a bourbon guy) and sing songs... I've done a couple superchargers and turbo installs in the past, on previous vehicles. Can't be that bad looking at the 300 steps manual.

I did call Mag and they said that the warranty wouldn't be 'Null and Void' just because it was installed by an individual that is not ASME certified mechanic. Every claim with be 'case by case'... which is what I wanted to hear from them.

Seriously though, if anyone is interested hit me over PM. Bring ur though and a negative COVID test within the last 72hr (kind of serious, but kind of joking...)

I'll probably order this bad boy before over the next couple of weeks...
 
Would love to help but I am in socal.

A tip I read somewhere and took full advantage of was removing the front 2 tires and bringing the car down as low as I could and put it on blocks right before the rotors touched the ground. It made the engine compartment work very easy on my legs and back.

I installed mine in my driveway, in 100 degree, disgusting humidity in a weekend, taking my time. There is really nothing overly complex about it. I needed to re-route as well, and that is what took 2-3 hours more than I factored on. I almost decided to lower it, but instead used an 18" aluminum platform. Definitely need to do one or the other.

I got mine for $5300 after some digging around and calling.

I also did my WP while there, it had 80K on it, and figured I'd rather do it now for $120 than need to do it in 20-30K. FYI, it looks new still.

thanks heard back from a members here and the sale range seems to be $52xx-55xx range. Need to figure out labor cost from a few shops or install with a mechanic friend of mine.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have the 21 LED headlights installed

If your friend can remove an intake then he can install the SC. Only down side is figuring out where you’re gonna mount the pump if you have a full steel bumper.

I've always wanted a SC ever since I owned a 3rd gen and Toyota was selling them as OEM. I now have a 2013 Limited with 65,000 miles. I was just quoted $8900 OTD (Bay Area, California). They wouldn't let me supply my own (like from the Vegas dealer) so the SC alone is $5,995 which is the retail price w/o shipping. The good news is that they have one in stock, otherwise it would be an 8 week lead time to order one from Magnuson. I can afford it, but $9k is a hell of a lot of money to spend on my 8-year-old vehicle.

What advice do you have for me?

Do it.

1.) Your mileage is low
2.) You’re out of warranty
3.) Less headache than finding one with a supercharger
4.) And you’ll pay less

Yes, it’s a more expensive dealer but it’s still the cheaper option (buying a supercharged and selling yours)

It’s the Bay Area and everything is stupid expensive. I’m east coast and think labor should be no more than $2k for the job and if the part is $6k you’re almost at $9k anyway.

Install it yourself, or find another shop that will. 3K to install one is insane, even for California.

$9k is a crazy high quote for the supercharger and install. It’s your money but I would recommend installing yourself.
