For everyone who was not able to get the platforms while they were available, I am still selling the PLANS for them. In adobe illustrator format. You can get some acrylic yourself and find a shop with a laser cutter to cut it for you. Easy to find in most big cities.

Plans are $15. Send me PM with the same format.

It's funny this thread came up. There were several sheets of acrylic in my shop when I bought my house years ago. Always wanted to do something with it. I own a heatgun so that's not an issue. The issue is, cutting it. I've worked with it some for work to make covers for UPS battery racks and just don't have a proven way to cut or drill it without damaging it.

So yes, finding a place to cut and drill it is key. I'm close to redoing my whole wiring so I'll be buying your plans in the near future. Just making lists and bugets now.

I have had some success with cutting acrylic with a scroll saw, on very low speed. It will take a while, but if you keep the speed down and keep air blowing across the cutting area, it should be ok. You'll have to sand it with some medium sandpaper, then wet sand with fine (400 gr). It won't be the same as laser, but it will work.

Good to note. As for drilling, we found using a unibit with only a single (not a double) cutting "tooth edge" (thingy mag jigger wacha ma call it) worked pretty well. Much better then a normal drill bit.

But regarding this project and this many curves and such I'll definitely save my sanity and pay a shop to do it. Something simple, I'll definitely remember your scroll saw idea. Thanks!

The issue is, cutting it.

I have had some success with cutting acrylic with a scroll saw, on very low speed.

Not 4Runner related, but acrylic related.... when I cut 1/4" acrylic to make a rear window for my TR6 hardtop (the glass is unobtainium), I just used a jigsaw and a laminate cutting blade. The two most important things to remember are to go slow and use the right blade. Worked great!

Quick question for you guys. What are you guys using for relays for the individual accessories, such as lights? Are you guys just mounting them off to the side or do you have a specific way to incorporate them into a simple platform? I've seen some people use relay blocks like the Hella Relay Box below to keep it simple and sealed.

Another question is what is the advantage to using the Blue Sea Fuse Block over say a Bussmann Relay and Fuse Block that is all incorporated into one sealed unit? Then you can just run your breakers and ignition relay separately. I am still new to electrical stuff so that's why I'm asking. I'd like to keep things as simple and functional as possible when I do this upgrade.
