Painted Wheels and installed 255/85R16 BFG KM2's

I installed a set of 255 KM2's after running 2N17X with some fellow members........ Jmoney, Brian2Sun, Drifter33, Duhockey, COB, and OCMike. Here's my dilemma, the tires look great and don't make a ton of noise. But, they do rub pretty bad. The rear is the worst. I'd say there's a good 1/2" interference between the bumper and tire. The front hits the pinch weld pretty bad.
For the guys running 255's without a body lift what did you have to do to eliminate the rubbing? Also, let me know what you prefer, the before or after photos?

The bumper has been "dimpled". These are normally used for sheet metal to add structural rigidity. In this case, I had some extra time and the tools...................... Plus the bumpers were already dented, so after adding the holes, you don't notice the dents.

The wheel paint is Duplicolor Graphite wheel paint HWP102

Here's an example of dimples used for a purpose.......

255s rub a lot less with a 1" BL. Still, even with that you'll have to trim your rear bumper if you want to get rid of all the rubbing back there. No matter what, you're still going to rub on the little plastic cover that goes over the gas filler tube in the driver's side rear wheel well. My CBI stops about 1.25" short of where the stock bumper was and my tire is ~1/8" away from the bumper at full stuff. I had to beat in some of the body back there too. I get a little more travel with my links though.

In the front, I had to beat the pinch welds in a lot and I still get minor rubbing up there once in a while even with the body lift.

What a night and day difference with the painted wheels and new tires. Looks great. I like how the wheels kind of match the body.

I like the dimples on the bumpers also. Being a pre-runner and aircraft fan I've always dug the way those dimples look. Keep up the good work!

Well it appears as though the dimples are intended to reduce weight without impacting strength much. But I can see the reason for doing it in the pictures above, but for the thin tin chrome bumpers? Oh well, I think it looks neat, just not for me

WOW. Looks Great. I am very close to pulling the trigger on a set of 255/85 KM2's and the OME 3".

Did you buy the tires online? I have been shopping for the best deal on them.

How much lift do you estimate you are running with the coilovers and LC rear springs?

When we went to Silverwood I meant to ask how much they rubbed and I totally forgot. Looks like I'll have to modify the pinch weld and get a bumper :thumb3:. Or let it rub in the back. It wasn't that bad going forward. But when in reverse it bent the bumper pretty good.
