For those seriously interested: Toyota OEM part number: (scion 6.1 touchscreen) PT546-00140. This is only the HU, if you want NAV, you have to get a module that enables Entune and NAV. This is apparently about $900 at the dealer. If you look around, you can find them for about $500. With some luck, you can do BOTH for under $1K, but I'm curious to see if it all works in JBL equipped 4Rs.

[MENTION=84709]Buckles[/MENTION] : I know there is a "MPG/fuel consumption" screen on these, when you installed yours, does it work? Just curious as many Toyota touchscreen units have this. If it does, I'm sure there would be additional connections needed to the ECU (??).

Dealer price is $900). Kinda pricey.

I have never seen the mpg screen you are talking about. I suspect that it would require the Entune or Bespoke extension box though. Either one will work with this screen and give you nav. The difference is the Bespoke extension doesnt need a VIN number registered with toyota for the apps to work. For the Entune unit to be fully operational, you have to register it with a VIN that has this unit as an option. If you use your own VIN, it will not work.

Does your setup have steering wheel controls for your head unit? I looked at one 4th gen where the guy switched out his factory for a unit that came out of a Scion and it worked like a champ.

Yes my steering wheel controls still work.

Yes, I did see the Entune vs. Bespoke. Thanks for the heads up. From what I'm seeing, the NAV can only be updated via a USB fob (implying only the dealer can do it b/c it gets uploaded via some computer only the dealer has). That's the only real "CON" I can see with this upgrade.

STILL, I'm intrigued. Pretty sure I can get about $750+ for my OEM NAV, so that should off set the cost of getting both the Scion HU AND the NAV module.

I'm currently driving a 2014 Corolla with a touch screen HU and I'm starting to like it alot.

Yeah i was going to say when i write up certain corollas their headunits look EXACTLY like the scions. But i am looking at picking up a different scion touch screen head unit. Its got all the buttons on the left with the dial knob, and the touch screen on the right. (TOYOTA PART #PT546-18130EB) I dont know the model number but dont see why it wouldnt be a direct plug in if you use the T1819 set up

Well good luck man. Honestly I don't think you will see any where near $750 for your factory nav but it's worth a shot.

There are downloads out there for the update that you can do yourself.

Only reasonable solution is to get a newer OEM NAV, but I never even thought of getting a scion/Toyota one until I saw this thread. I did see a NAV in a Venza that caught my eye (E7038....... see pic below), but I'm unsure on fitment/installation b/c NO one has tried it.

The Venza unit looks like it would have the same problem as the tacoma unit I tried. Didn't fit in the dash opening.

There is a special adapter you can use for a camera. Just search eBay. They are about $115 though.

If it anything like other Toyota OEM navs, no RCA jack at all. You'd have to get a pinout of it. Here is what they look like from the back:

I put the Scion radio in my 4R, (SR5) and think I'm going to run all new everything in my Wife's Limited. The adapter seems like a cobbled together solution.

Run all new everything? Getting a new radio (Scion) or aftermarket?

Not sure what you mean by "cobbled" solution, I understand that to be mean half-assed, LOL.

I still haven't fully researched this as I can't find pin-outs (maybe not necessary???) for it. I still don't have my E7009 fully functional yet (never connected the rear camera/bluetooth/voiceNav).

I'm still trying to find "Pros" to justify getting all this. I love the idea of having an OEM NAV with new graphics and some additional features (HD radio, clearer screen). Keeps my Runner "renewed". :biggrin2:

Thus far, we don't know if they will work with JBL amps. I'm guess no, b/c the wire harnesses/plugs for JBL/nonJBL are different on 4Runners. Supposedly you can get some metra wire harness that "bypasses" the amp, but I dunno.............. :noidea:

I'm hungry for some answers as well. I ALMOST pulled the trigger on one I saw online. I'm sure there is a simple solution for this.

A few more questions for all you smart people

I know I have been asking a ton of questions and got a ton of good info here already but I have a few more questions for everyone. So I got the head unit in the mail yesterday and did some more research to try and figure out how this could work in a 4runner with JBL. I found these two adapters....

PAC TATO Factory Intergration Adapter

Metra TYTO-01 adapter

I was reading about these adapters listed above and thought that they might work until I was reading through the installation instructions and both adapters use RCA connectors and tell you to "Connect the 4 RCA connectors to the RCA outputs of the aftermarket radio (Scion head unit in this case)". Since the Scion head unit doesn't have RCA outputs these two adapters would not work? I am I correct or am I missing something? Sorry for the stupid questions.

My next question that [MENTION=84709]Buckles[/MENTION] or someone else might be able to help with is on the back of the Scion head unit (below) which ports control what?? In other words what port is power, what port is steering wheel controls etc.??



I haven't pulled the JBL head-unit out yet and its been a while but I think it only has 3 ports on the back of it. Any hel:help would be a step in the right direction. There is enough smart ppl here to figure this out.

I did some more research and found the answer to the second part of my question above. Was able to find the pinout here for the Sion head unit (I know [MENTION=50507]CookieRoe[/MENTION] was searching for this) which I'll attach below. Not sure if this helped me or just made me more confused
