Scion FRS Radio

It's a scion logo. I've looked high and low on how to change it. I'm not thinking it's possible.

I wonder if the Subaru BRZ HU would install the same as the FRS. I could pay homage to my old Subaru I sold to buy the 4Runner.

Now if I could only figure out this wiring for the Illumination of the back lighting on the buttons. I called Metra and asked what they thought. They had no clue. Said its wire to wire matching. I started a thread about what wires I need to use. I need to find out what pins are used for it on the back of the FRS radio. Looks like green and green/white are what is used in the factory harness.

Just finished installing the T10015 head unit with the Entune NAV. I also connected the USB ports, bluetooth MIC and rear camera.

First off, installation was straight forward with all the help from this thread. I purchased the head unit and NAV off ebay. Got the cables from assorted vendors and the camera from backupcameraco.com. I wanted a plug and play Toyota camera which is 6v, instead of a 12v camera that would require another relay.

Everything is working except the USB. It doesn't seem to recognize when anything is plugged into it.

Also, the NAV is off about a 1/4 mile which makes it useless. It can't figure out which end is up either. I can make a 90 degree turn and the map will turn 180. Very strange. I originally mounted the GPS antenna under the dash, then moved it to the windshield which didn't change anything.

I just did this too. Camera isn't run yet, but whatever.

Anyways, you need to connect the vss wire to the harness. It's a pink wire on the split harness adapter from scion, and a purple with a red stripe that's in the bundle behind the hvac controls. That'll stop that stupid delay. My antenna is under the dash too, works fine.

Not sure what to tell you about the USB, mine works fine. I bought a USB cable from eBay for cheap.

I puchased this camera:
Toyota Display Audio/Entune Backup Camera Kit - Camry, Corolla, Prius, | Backup Camera System Truck Backup Cameras LCD Mirror LCD Monitor Gentex

It has grids but they can be turned off by connecting two little green wires together on the camera harness. The image can also be flipped 180 degrees meaning you can mount the camera two ways. I mounted mine in the factory location for the 4runners.

I drove around for a week, replaced the headunit and replaced the module and the GPS antenna before I figured out there was no vss sensor.

I bought the same USB port... No idea why yours doesn't work.

I don't use the USB port for anything other than data for the entune apps.

Thank you, I will take it back apart and add that wire. I know mine doesn't have that because it will let me enter a destination while driving. Hopefully that will fix my issue. I do have another question, can Google maps on a cell phone be used thru the head unit. I read somewhere where it can, but I haven't figured out how.

This fixed my flaky NAV accuracy. I think you joined the forum just in time to help me. Thank you very much!!! I did have some difficulty finding that purple wire to tap, so I am including a pic for others in case they need this too.

Only thing left is the USB, I think I will order another cable, its either that or the headunit itself, I have tried everything else including plugging in a thumb drive, but it still doesn't see anything.

I have the same head unit in my 2003 and have added bluetooth, steering controls, etc. What model of the nav unit do I need? I read about the Entune and the Bespoke, but don't really know the difference...

I don't really know the differences but from everything I researched, the Entune seemed to be the preference of those that had seen/used both. So I just went with what others recommended. The part number of the unit is PT296-47120.

Are you guys finding the best deal on the T10015 via ebay?

I just missed out on a new one right before Christmas. It went for $245. All others are used and generally in the $300 plus range. That's just a wee bit rich for me...

That's about what I paid. When I bought mine, you had to read the ebay description carefully because they would reference the head unit being "nav ready" or some foolishness, implying the nav was included with the head unit.

I paid $150 for mine on eBay. It was used. You can get creative with your search terms and find one for around $200 pretty easily. Mine was listed at $250 and I made an offer of $150 and they accepted it.
