T-SB-0081-12 Headlamp Surface Oxidation

Should be able too. According to my Service Mgr, they were the same cost to him so he did not care. (I did tell him that if there was an upcharge, if reasonable, I would pay.) But, you better get to him before they order the other ones.......be safe.

Just talked to the Service Manager at my local dealership, he can't order the trail headlights for my limited!!! "Has to be the same or it won't be covered when we submit the claim" I think I might be the first person to bring in their T4R for the TSB at this dealer. Service writer was in shock when I handed him a copy of the TSB.

Just a heads up my service manager said stock is getting low on these.... there was a delay getting one of my lights. Get in and get em before they are on backorder

I then called him back and asked him if it is the same cost, could he order the "TE" lights instead of the SR5....again, no problem. They were installed today in less then 1 hour.
interesting... usually if you change part numbers they wont do it for FREE under the TSB as that is how they get "reimbursed"

Your right, I had to wait an extra 3 days for one of the TE lights. That was the reason they gave me also, hard to find.

New Headlights installed

Took my 2010 SR5 in for the headlight hazing which did not look too bad since I had been polishing them out for the last 3 years and I told them so. I noted that the TSB just came out in June 2012 and that all the polishing I did was way before the TSB. I just told them I wanted new headlights and not to polish them as other dealers have . No problem, it took 2 days to get the parts and they where installed today. Thanks to everyone on this forum for keeping all of us informed.

well of course not... that is cool.... I am happy with new SR5, if they haze again maybe I will try for the trail lights, lets see some pics on the salsa red

Per your request....I also put on the TE fog light bezels...be safe.

Took my runner in for an oil change and asked to have my lights replaced under the TSB. The service rep said he never heard of it but would look in to it. After the service was done he said they would have to order the lights since they didn't have any. So, I said did you order them and he said no you need to make an appointment so they have something to order them against and then he told me to have a good day.
Then I asked him if I could just make an appointment now so he could order them and he said yes. I would think common sense would have lead him to ask me if I wanted to make one instead of me having to ask for one. I am sure when I bring my truck in he will tell me that he ordered the wrong ones or he didn't order them at all.
The rep I dealt with was a tool but hopefully he gets me the right ones.
I have to buff mine about every other month and I just told him I was tired of buffing my headlights and wanted new ones, he didn't fight me on that.

I went back to the dealer the other day to see what the hell was taking so long, and of course they were "just about to call me." Anyway the service manager took a look at my headlights and said he would order new ones asap. He told me he could have them by Friday but I was working. Lets see when the stuff actually comes in...

Finally got my new headlights

Dropped off Tuesday after work, got a free rental car, which I completely abused the hell out of hahhahahaha. Had it all day today for headlight and seat back recall. When I got there at 3:30 still wasn't done. Service writer said it took the tech almost 4 hrs to do the seat. And 3 hours for the lights!?!?!?!? I complained that it wasn't ready and they gave me a coupon for free oil change. Everything seems to be right so far. Service writer said it was the first one they had done!

Finally got mine done today. Seven hours for the headlights, driveshaft and oil change. I had to get a rental car but they picked up the tab. Looks good though! Hopefully these don't haze...

took in for oil change, while there showed service guy printout of TSB for headlights. He said tech would take a look at it.
They ordered parts last thursday, headlights were installed today ( a week later).
1.5 hour wait.

My 3rd visit for this TSB and I finally have new TE headlights! Dealer took care of me and detailed my truck for the trouble with the SR5/LE headlight debacle.

Well, finally got an answer from Toyota! Just a word of advice, if you do not hear from Toyota in a timely manner, please call and check on the status of your case. The CSR had accidentally clicked on the wrong button and closed out my case number and it had to be reopened. Final verdict: Go and have your headlights replace and send us (Toyota Corporate) the bill and we will reimburse you for parts, labor and sales tax. I also plan on asking for a driver while she's down and it they want to charge me for that too, I'll send them the bill for that as well.

Put in my comments/complaints to Toyota Corporate. I basically had it known that
- I had the T4R at the dealer for the headlights (documented) PRIOR to warranty expiration and the dealership was unsure how to proceed.
- Dealership had previously stated that they may have to "just replace the lights under warranty."
- TSB was issued AFTER the expiration of warranty and now dealership will not replace them. (Not covered under Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty)
- Me = Not a happy camper.

I tried to focus in on the fact that 2010 owners were put at a significant disadvantage in that the TSB was issued at such a late date even though Toyota was "aware" that there was an issue, and that most 2010's (excluding trailer queens and garage kings) would have exceeded 36k by the time the TSB was issued.

If you had previously taken your 2010 in and had the headlight issue documented and now you are past 36k and the dealer will not replace the under warranty on the merits of the TSB, please call Toyota (800-331-4331) and open a case with them.

I did the same thing!! In at 7am, they had it done by noon!
Salem, Oregon - Capitol Toyota, they are happy to do the work no questions asked.
