What would you have offered?

I went to go look at immaculate 2001 sr5 4runner. It had all up to date maintenance, rust was minimal to average. We do live in the rust belt here in Canada. Just a nice truck. It had 216000 km or 134,000 miles. I offered him full black book for our region. He had it listed for 9990, and only wanted to drop 400. My wife thinks paying over black book is stupid, but she down't know about the markets. 8200 was my max 1000 over black book. Is he in the ball park with that price?

nope, i say with any rust (other than just surface rust), like any rust bubbles or more i wouldnt pay full value and never more. i picked up my runner in the PNW(we have a seriously overinflated 4runner market -probably the highest in the nation) for $5k with 200k mi and zero rust. sure mine is a 97, but 4 years and 60k mi does not equal $4500+, you could buy another 4runner for that $4500. hold out and you will fine one.

That's what I thought. The rust was surface, but pretty good for these parts of the woods. We don't have alot to choose from out here, and I just don't have the funds to be shopping else where. Thanks for you imput Kid.

I don't think $8,200 is bad if its only surface rust in the frame & suspension parts. (That's an easy enough fix). But any body rust, rocker panels bubbling, body panel seems rusting, I'd drop from that $8,200 significantly.

The only body rust and it was minimal was where the side step skirtings touch the body. It was minimal, but still there. Here if you don't keep up the cleaning on any vehicle rust starts to form. Thanks for your input Pitbull
